3/8 clevis lift and a top isolator and you can bring that up a lot. search around the forums a bit, the OME is the most common and it brings most up about 2.5"

I've searched clevis lift all over and is it there something you buy for it or is there just an adjustment made for the lift? and oh really 2.5 sounds great. i was just going by what is said next to the product on jeepinbyal.com.

and with the top isolator is this it? http://jeepinbyal.com/prod-Rear_lower_c ... r-599.aspx
it is all i can find as far as top isolator or top plate

when i first got my jeep and had a new engine put in i was talking with the mechanic and he said if i wanted a lie i have to get wider rims and tires is this true if i only try to get at least 3"?

i have a thule excursion top mount storage thing that i got for free but just need the vertical racks for my renegades thick circular rails.. anyone have any recommendations? I've only found ones that are close to $300.

sorry about my million questions. I really do appreciate all the replies and help, thank you. :)

Clevis lift walk through:
viewtopic.php?f=104&t=48731&start=0

A clevis lift is achieved by adding conduit nuts on the end of your front strut assembly (i believe the shock itself). It creates a spacer which your clevis pushes up against gaining around 3/8 - 1/2 inches of lift.

It's very cheap because all you need is a couple of nuts from home depot. The nuts are 2" and don't run any more than 4 per side.

You add in the clevis lift + http://jeepinbyal.com/prod-Strut_spacer ... t-684.aspx and it'll level out a good bit.

Don't feel bad about thinking about going the cheap way out, I remembered when I was in your exact position, I ordered a daystar spacer kit and after some thought I canceled the order and went with OME. You're making the right decisions!

Oops, read your post a little too fast, these are the top plate, i thought we were talking about the rear:

wow thanks for the great full detail explanation. I get it now so with the OME springs which run $750 for a set with the $30 top plates and nuts it all comes to around $780 thats not toooo bad lol but yea it was a just in the moment kind of thing when i considered the cheaper way out, I'm definitely going to do the whole lift process the way you guys advised me to. thanks again

If you want to save some cash I think it might be cheap to get springs from JBA but get the shocks from shockwarehouse.com, they have free shipping. i ordered the front struts earlier this week and they already came in, Just waiting on those springs!

Another note on the clevis: just came from home depot, they were 1.50$ for a bag of 2 at 2". They fit right onto the bottom of the shock, all 4 for 7$, poor mans lift haha.

thanks haha and indeed lol

and i just looked up the shocks an they're only 320 for the set of 4. thats so much cheaper lol the only thing is I'm looking at the JBA springs and there are only 2" front springs and then rear ones from 2.5" up.. is the rear supposed to have more of a lift?

Are you looking at OME 927 Front Springs:
http://jeepinbyal.com/prod-OME_Spring_f ... t-615.aspx

And the OME 948 Rear Springs:
http://jeepinbyal.com/prod-OME_Spring_for_Rear-625.aspx

They are both advertised at 1.5" of lift but around 2-2.5" from sagged height. If you put the strut plate + clevis lift, it'll sit a little bit more level, the only time i had my KJ level was when i did my OME lift on the front and just drove it around without the rear lifted for a week or two, that felt like a rocket ship haha. :pepper:

I believe that is the BDS lift:

http://fatbobsgarage.com/i-6785540-jeep ... -2007.html

Not a bad lift to go for, cheaper yes but you get what you pay for.

BDS does not include front shocks and the rear are cheaper ones

Also if you are doing a full spring with clevis and top plate you have to also install 2 extra per side rear upper isolators to get it level , also available from jeepinbyal by the way
lots of ideas but need to get it all together

so 2 extra top plates per each rear side?

so 4 springs
4 shocks
6 top plates
4 nuts

total?

Get some springs for sure. For shocks, chose wisely. I had super lift shocks on mine and loved them. I think the general consensus is OME and Bilstein are best. STAY AWAY FROM SKYJACKER AND SPACER LIFTS!!!!

Finally did some minor work on my kj :pepper: lol i did it with the help and super vision of my step dad for fixing the rear wiper but changed out all the brake pads on my own haha i know its such a simple thing to do but it still felt good haha btw did anyone else's ratchet bar thing bend when taking the lug nuts on and off? it can't cost too much to replace

im also currently working on homemade cross bars. i just have to get the right size u bolts for my rene which i can't seem to get right. i thought the 2" was a bit too loose so i returned them and got 1.5" and it was too tight so i bent it but then it was to wide to fit the metal plate so i guess ill see if theres a 1.75" or just go with the 2". I'll post pics when its all done.

Btw does anyone know what those plastic insert screw things that hold the fender flares from the underside are called?

thanks people

Haha I remember when i bent my tire iron, ended up using a nice socket and a 5 foot gas pipe as an extension to get them off.

I guess if you want to, invest in some air tools, I did my 2nd OME this week and turned out great. My first I did with just a wrench and took HOURS of long work, this time with an air wrench I had the front springs compressed in 5 mins.

And are these the rivets you were talking about:

http://www.quadratec.com/products/12514_108.htm

Quite expensive if you're changing out all of your fender flares but Harbor Fright has a great deal:

http://www.harborfreight.com/hand-rivet ... 97757.html

Good Luck!

Congrats on the Jeep man. First vehicle is always a huge deal and will always be the love of your life. My first was a '67 Mustang, I'll never forget that day, came home from school and Dad told me my car would be at the house on Saturday, asked him what it was and he told me a '67 Mustang GTA, I darn near shat myself. Come Saturday, I was in the driveway all day and finally here comes this U-Haul and my first reaction was "WTF"? Opened the back of that U-Haul and it was full of orange crates and I asked the old-timer what the hell was going on, he handed me a torque wrench and said "It's your car" and went back inside.
