I've heard you could go through the wheel well but seemed like alot more work to me.
Anyway, I used a deep 1 1/16 socket. The "second" and last time I changed it I just pulled the fan shroud out and took off the serpentine belt. You can't really see it but you can feel it. The one PS hose is a bit tight but I managed to get around it. Its a bit tricky to actually remove the electrical connector with the oil filter there but I only had about 2k on the oil. If its too tight just unbolt the PS pump and swing it out of the way.
The first time I changed it I had everything off the front cause I was pulling both Cam covers. Had a little issue with a headgasket and needed to see how much crud was in there. That was an easy change but used the aftermarket sensor
