Just got the KK back from the body shop lookin all fresh and junk. They told me I have some sort of glitch going on with my headlight and wipers and they think it is a recall. My wiper switch will not move the wipers at all. The only thing it does is spray the fluid. When I turn my headlights on my wipers start going off. Does any of this sound familiar? Or does anybody have a place to look up the recalls cause a quick Google search yielded no results for this malfunction.

Could this be a TIPM issue? Maybe? Any ideas guys?

Im also assuming the TIPM is the electrical box behind the battery?

Nothing drives me more bananas then when somebody once had a similar issue but didnt come back to the thread with the fix. I started troubleshooting a little further and found that the horn and fog lights were specifically what set off the wipers. Since the KK obviously didnt do this before the accident I figured I would start with the most likely problem area. I proceeded reaching my arm down and disconnecting one of the wires to the horn and when I pressed the horn button the wipers didnt move, I knew I was on the right track. I went ahead and removed the grill and driver side headlight. Started following the wire bundles from the horns and fog light socket, low and behold I found a ground cable that was disconnected. Hooked it up to the nearest grounding spot. Boom. Fixed. Stupid body shop. :banghead:

I work on aircraft avionics. Ive seen bad grounds and floating grounds cause some of the craziest write ups ever. Theyre usually also the hardest to troubleshoot. This was pretty ridiculous though.

Good thing you figured it out. I've had all kinds of things happen on trailer lights cause of bad grounds. I now run a seaprate wire from hook up back to both lights for insurance.

I hope you called the body shop back. Personally, I wouldn't have even accepted the vehicle unless it was working perfectly. No way would I have accepted responsibility if I brought the vehicle in there without issues to be returned WITH issues.

I'd certainly want reimbursement for my time!

oh i called, they apologized. only reason why i had accepted it was because they had it for entirely too long to begin with. i was gonn end up getting into it with State Farm because the shop is one of their "preferred shops." quite frankly if it was going to come down to a wiring issue, i dont want a body shop to try and figure the crap out. they probably would have called in some random "mechanic to figure it out. lets face it these new vehicles are too hard to troubleshoot without the proper equipment. i would have rather had it sitting at the dealership instead, as much as i also despise them.
