Hi Folks

Sorry to rehash but i'm in a bit of a hurry, I was busy cleaning the engine when i noticed bubbles coming from the base of the injector, I also noticed that there was a bolt at the base that I could probably try tightening but thought of asking for advice first from the forum.

ReTorque it to 24 ft. lbs. If that does not work you will need to replace the seals under the injector.

Retorque is worth a try but I wouldn't bet on it. You probably will need to get the injector crush washer 5072722AA and "O" ring 5069135AB. The parts manual calls both of these "O" rings for reasons known only to Jeep. These 2 items are so cheap that getting them from a dealer is probably about the same as mail order as shipping is likely to eat up any savings.

There is a special Miller tool to remove injectors but if it's bubbling it's probably well lubed and should come out easily.

Thanks for the advice, is it possible that the injector could crack when trying to remove if they are ceramic.

I'm in the process of selling the Jeep and I need to sort out the leaking injector, is it simple to remove using the correct tool or is there another way of removing the injector without the tool without causing damage.

It's the original glow plugs that are ceramic not the injectors. IIRC that bolt you see holds a retaining "shoe" for the injector; with any luck remove the bolt and shoe and the injector will pull out straight up. I suspect this will work given the bubbling suggests the base of the injector is well lubricated.

I'll let others comment on removal without the tool if the injector is in there tight.

What a bad, ceramic injectors , there is a second bolt on the other side of the injector, does that need to be removed or only the front bolt and shoe

To pull the injector you need to remove the wiring connector, fuel supply line, fuel return line on top and the one bolt holding down the crow's foot clamp. Rotate the injector a bit to get it loose, but make sure to grab on a metal portion and not on the plastic solenoid.
