Well I have done a lot to my Liberty, just have been too busy and too lazy to do a write up on it. Where do I start first?

First...
I went fenderless with the plans of making my own custom flat fender flares. Not metal like KJWildman, but made out of a plastic material. If someone beats me to it, oh well. Still would like to do plastic flat fender flares someday.
Image
Image

Then came the problem of, "Where do I put my turn signals?" I came up with the idea of "hiding" them in the Jeep. So when the front flares went bye-bye, so did the turn signals. No problem, I am creative. I came up with the idea of using the factory fog light housing for the turn signals. My friend took the fog light housing and honed them out so the turn signal bulbs could fit in them. Moved the wiring around, hooked them back up and TA-DA, I had turn signals. Perfectly legal here in Kentucky to go fenderless.
Image

So then I had no fog lights. What was I to do? Oh, I know! Wire the Hella fog lights to work with the factory fog light wiring/switch. That is exactly what I did. My friend helped me splice the factory fog light wiring and wired up to the Hella fog lights. It works just fine. (Going to get pictures...do not have any avaliable)

Taking the fenders off made me cautious about rust. The inner fender lining is still in the rear wheel wells. Just not up front. I had some Herculine and used it up in the front fender wells. Turned out pretty nice. I still have some touch up work to do.
Image
Image

Using the Herculine, I bedlined the bottom half of my doors, places where fenders were missing, roof, roof rails, grill cover, t-case/tranny skids, mirrors, fuel door and Hella fog light covers.

As some of you know I took a trip to Wales this past March. It was a good trip and brought home a worthy sticker to put on the Jeep. This can only be found in Wales. I also had the idea of placing the 3.7L lettering under the sticker.
Image

Then I got the idea of putting my Jeep letters back on from where I debadged the Liberty about 2 years ago. All that was needed for this was scissors, 3M double sided tape and "IMAGINATION".
Jeep back on the hood
Image

Used the smaller Jeep lettering on the rear hatch glass.
Image

A LOST member was so kind enough to buy me a LOST Trailrated badge. I painted it and placed the 4x4 lettering under it.
Image

My Jeep was rear ended really hard March 16th. I was injured, but I am doing better and still have ocassional neck pain. The wreck caused me to get a concussion which really had me out of whack for several days. All the Jeep needs is tailgate from junk/wrecking yard, alignment, have the tires flipped out/balanced/rotated, new u-joints, spark plugs, both pulleys replaced, new serp belt and it will be good to go. The Jeep is nearing 80,000 miles and I plan on changing the fuel filter.

Some mods I plan on doing:
-having a competition style stinger fabbed up
-buy a backbone winch plate from Detours Offroad
-buying a winch (which will be needed at ECS 2012)
-clevis lift and extra upper rear isos for more lift and leveling the Jeep out
-getting a light bar worked out
-finishing my Herculine job
-rock rails and gas tank skid

Some little things here and there, but nothing big. The Jeep WILL be ready for ECS 2012. I plan on purchasing my Lifetime Membership soon.

Now that I have wenched on the Jeep myself, some, I feel more comfortable doing more things to it myself. Maybe tackling the rack and pinion but I will need help with that.

I will use this as my official build thread and will update it when I put new things on the Jeep or do thing to it. Really itching to do more to the Jeep...but $$$ is the problem. Isn't that all of us on here?

I will go measure how much my tires stick out past the fender and put the numbers on here. So others considering this will know and check their state laws regarding fender flares.

Hey! Cool write-up! I take it that you've decided to keep your Liberty?

Looks great Sarah! I've been thinking about lining everything up top in bedliner just to get the same color on everything, was the rook diffiult atall and was anything extra needed for the rails? ive done the skirt and grille already so I doNT imagine it could be anymore difficult. What size swamper is that also looks great and pleanty of room

Thank you. Roof was not difficult. I suggest tapping everything off and using a small paint brush on the rails.

Not to hate on your Jeep, but I think it looks tacky with no fenders. I also don't like how there is nothing to cover up the vents on the rear where the bumper used to be.

What I do like is that you use your Jeep like it's supposed to be used, and do whatever you want as far as diy mods.

Some like the fenderless look and some don't. But do I care what they think? NOPE!!!
It gets a lot of looks and I actually put the fenders back on...to get an idea for something :juggle:

Yesterday I changed both pulleys, serp belt and spark plugs.

I bought a Reese version of the HiLift Jack...$60
Started working on the DIY front tow points...gave up on it. Waiting till Thursday to finish it so my friend Ryan (with tools galore) can help me.

Friday my extra rear isolators (4 of them) should be coming in...
Saturday I will be doing a clevis lift and extra rear isos...to lift the jeep more and level it out.
Monday I will be getting an alingment and having the tires flipped out, balanced and rotated.

Still hunting for a replacement tailgate...
Could someone fill me in on how to change the fuel filter?

Drop the fuel tank and remove the pump/filter assembly and drop the new one in. (it is expensive)
Or you could cut a hole in the cargo area floor of your jeep. I think there is a panel "glued" in place over the pump. Just look under the carpet.

So are you saying both the pump and filter have to be changed at the sametime? I thought I could just change the filter itself and not the pump. It is almost 1am so I could be reading it wrong. A WIX fuel filter is $30+tax at O'Reilly Autoparts. What about the gas inside the tank?
