SCORE!!! Did the internet search and was going to be 30-60 plus shipping for the fork. Called Chris Nickel dodge/Jeep/Fiat in Broken Arrow. they told me 41.50 can have it tuesday! Picked it up today put it in, T-case back in but need to finish buttoning it up, cross member, linkage, Drive shafts etc. Opened up the Tom Woods box today. What a well engineered drive line. Hopeing to finish the install Thursday and take care of a few issues on Friday and hit the Trail on Sat. Hogan's offroad in Disney Ok is hosting the big meat mud run on Sat. I want to be there to at least watch maybe his a few light trails.

Jeep is back together but I ran into an issue Friday night with it not getting fire to the plugs. Traced it back to a fuse on the fender well. Replaced it around midnight Friday night. She fired off so we decided to finish up the minor stuff in the am. Sat after a fiasco with getting the tags and getting my son picked up on time. Got back to the jeep around 1pm. No start :banghead: .....Plenty of fire acted as if it didn't have enough gas so in went 2 gal. no fire just light off and sputter die. so traced wires all the way from the front to the rear and found out that the new fuel pump I installed 2 weeks ago is fried. All the wires were melted. ( the ones inside the tank the ones outside were fine....Hmmm can anyone say BOOM! ) So put in the call to autozone for a replacement was told 7pm...grabbed the old one plugged it in it came on... so i put it in better fire but not enough to keep it running. Would idle good for a min, idle real high, then sputter to a stop. Long story short after a very frustrating day we did not make it to Hogan's.

But i did get everything hooked up, seats in, offensive stickers removed, drive lines installed, and the t-case will shift into 4 hi, neut, and 4 lo, seems to not want to go into 2 lo but that could be fluid? Or is the 231 one of those you have to back up for a bit to take it out?

Once i am able to get it to move under its own power I will get some pics up.

Oh and where can i get a cheap windshield installed? i was trying to break the torque from the steering wheel nut and the wrench slipped and went flying....... :furious:

On a more serious note, I hope you get it all worked out. I'm looking forward to some pics.

I did the same to my windshield on the xj while i was taking out the dash, Crack. I know a guy that will come to your house and replace it for 100 bucks. But I don't think he will drive to Oklahoma.

Ordered the MOOG control arm bushings today..... Was driving around Sunday and hit a bump at about 50mph..... I now know what Death wobble is like! Did a bunch of research and the only thing i find loose under there is all my control arm bushings so hopefully I will cure it this weekend.

Took about 8 hours but i got the bushings in. I discovered that my floor jack handle makes an excellent punch to drive out the drivers side via the passengers side wheel well. On the way home i hit every pot hole i saw and no death wobble as of yet!

:banghead: my problem may be worse than i thought. I backed the jeep up to mow this w/e as i was backing up it popped out again and would not go back. Later on i jumped in it and agin it would not go well in the process of cycling everything dropped the tranny down in 1st and she took off. I shifted to 3 no go shift to D no go R would go back to 1 ahe would take off. So u guys think a tranny filter and fluid change could fix it?

I would hate for you to spend the money on a transmission flush, filter, and transmission oil if your problems are much deeper (internal). I don’t know transmissions well enough to know where to begin. In some ways, it reminds me of how a bad torque converter would behave. If I were you, I’d take it to a reputable transmission shop and ask them before you get too involved.

Other than poppibg out it hasnt given any signs of going out. I just drove it about 150 miles and it acted fine shifted a little later in some cases than i like but not way late. Ie. Instead of shifting at 2700 it shifted at 3000. (not exact rpms) i already bought the filter and fluid so was thinking maybee it wad clogged. After all this thung sat since 08. Who knows was sediment it sucked up. Plus pulling the pan will indicate more. I can check the fluid for flakes and other debris.

Doing it yourself is different than doing a transmission flush. When you said “transmission flush”, I thought you were talking about an actual flush. I would most certainly recommend a drain and fill. I thought you already did a transmission drain and fill? Since you have the OE drain plug, I would drain, fill, and drive for 20 miles, then repeat the drain/fill interval 3 times. I would also recommend buying a transmission filter (Magnefine filter). That’s a very simple and cheap solution that might take care of your problem(s).

Sorry I should have been more precise. I did buy a new filter, and probably 2m if the weather is nice I will get it done.

No worries, I just wanted to clarify.

CarNutCertifies wrote:

Besides a new OEM replacement filter, I added a Magnefine Transmission Filter
http://www.magnefinefilters.com

Features:
-Dual filtration - Magnet and filter media filters down to 3 micron and removes 99% of all wear metal contaminants.
-Full flow filter (Does not restrict flow and contains a built-in bypass system in case filter becomes clogged)
-Prolongs life of fluid
-Prolongs life of transmission
-Reduces the need to drop the pan to change OE filter.

Installation:
-On a used trany, the manufacture recommends installing the filter on the return cooler line.
