Reading through some tranny shudder issue posts on the Net, it may indicate another problem, this engine-related... I poured a can of Seafoam last week, as I usually do once a year, and this 1 day prior to the shudder starting. Shudder is constant and mostly felt in 2-3-4 gears, especially when load is applied (throttle or terrain elevation). What mesmerizes me is feeling this shudder even when decelarating in the same gears. Any opinion is welcome, as I am stumped!
I am going to replace oil & filters in the tranny and transfer case tonight. Hopefully this will do the trick, though I am kinda skeptic in the light of the symptoms. More to come...
Check the easy things first.
Check your U-joints.
Also check the rear axle upper and lower control arm joints for wear which might cause pinion angle to change and be off.
