I will be patiently waiting on this write up. I want to put the dash speakers in mine as well

Can't wait to see how it goes.

I can tell you I am using Polk Audio 3 1/2". Used the same type in my FJ before. There are other pictures out there but no true how tos, yet Digger does have an awesome dash how to. 8)

Yea, digger seems to be the resident test subject for any jeep mods and so far the only one crazy enough to completely rhino line his kk xD I love it.

I highly doubt 3 1/2's will fit without some major modification. Once you see how puny the stock speakers are you will laugh. I just took them out completely and put Polk 6 1/2's in all four doors.

The dash speakers are wired in parallel with the front door speakers so if you put in new dash speakers (assuming 4 Ohm) and if you have new door speakers (assuming 4 Ohm) then you will be running your head unit at 2 Ohms on the front channels and that's gonna put some major stress on it. The OEM dash speakers are 8 Ohms and I didn't check, but I'm guessing the OEM door speakers are 8 Ohm too (ie. 4 Ohms in parallel). You're better off ripping out the stock dash and getting components for the door and putting in a hole up in the top triangular part of the door for the tweeter IMO

Hey there Tech,

Broken clip on the A pillar where it meets the headliner on front passenger side. Not sure how the trim got pulled off. I'm thinking my son did it by accident but afraid to say anything. Who knows though? I dropped it off at the dealer Sunday night so they could replace it/fix it Monday while I was at work. Still doesn't fit quite as snug as driver side but it looks a whole lot better than it did. I saw what I thought was your GC parked as I was leaving dealer Sunday evening. Have you done some trimming? I think I remember you saying you got your lift on but it looks like you have some extra clearance around the rear wheel wells.

Yeah I did a little trimming I had some rub at full flex in the rear

I crawled under the Jeep today to find a rattle that happens when I drive over bumps. I found a loose screw holding what looks like the fuel line to the frame, and tightened it up so the line no longer has any room to rattle around. Unfortunately when I drove around later the rattle was still there! So whatever I tightened wasn't the source of the noise. It sounds like a loose heat shield or something. Anybody have any ideas? The noise seems to disappear when braking, if that helps. I had my mechanic look at the brakes last week, and he says they're fine.

I had the same issue all week, even over small bumps. I installed a lift last weekend, and guess I didn't tighten the sway bar link bolts enough afterwards. After checking everything else, we torqued them down today and haven't heard a rattle/clunk since. Worth a look. On another note, ordered some tow hooks!

Thanks, I'll check the sway bar links (and anything else that seems to have any play in the front suspension).

If you don't mind me asking, how much does a pair of tow hooks go for these days, and where did you order them from? I've been wanting to pick up a pair of tow hooks myself but they seem to be pretty expensive for a couple pieces of iron, at least on the websites where I've looked.

lfhoward I've also been looking and seems justforjeeps is the only place for a decent price unless you can find them on ebay somehow. The KJ hooks supposedly fit. http://www.justforjeeps.com/towhooks1.html

The KJ hooks do fit. I put them on a little while ago. You just have to push down the PS cooler hoses on the driver's side. I got mine from someone on here. They pop up from time to time.

I had a little clunking too...and what do you know I had to retorque the sway bar link bolts.

Installed engine, transfer case, and transmission skid plates. Also installed a front tow hook.

I have the gas tank skid in the KK on my way back Chicago, as there wasnt time to install it.
So if anyone in the Chi-city has the tools and space, I could provide a hand and a few beers to get it installed.
