Ok so I have a friend that planted the idea of converting our cars His Caliber and My Liberty into Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cars. He says that it can double you MPG. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this. Is it safe for my engine, are the gains worth the cost, will I performance. I'm mainly worried about my cars safety and I don't want to cause it to fail or blow seals because it wasn't meant to do this. What do you guys think?

If he is talking about the HHO kits don't do it,waste of money and is pure snake oil.Save the money to buy more gas.

A true hydrogen fuel celled conversion would cost millions of $$$$ right now.The tech is so new and expensive it's not worth the cost versus reward right now.

a real Hydrogen fuel cell - takes large tanks of O2 and H2 and makes - electricity

which is great if you have an electric car.....

Youve got to have a place to get it. You can't just pull up to any ol gas station and fill up.

I had to do a paper on fuel cells for one of my engineering classes. Personally, I would wait a few years. It's way too expensive right now and there is still a lot of research that needs to be done. Even the electric cars they have out now are not fully finished and to me, not worth it.

uh...not sure what your buddy is talking about. As of now there is an extremely limited number of "consumer" hydrogen fuel stations in the country..the first one i know of for consumers being down the street from where i am now sitting. To give you an idea we (Honda) just did a limited release of our hydrogen cell car. its basically an accord and costs over $600 a month to lease.

Electric vehicles have been around since almost the time of the combustion engine. their success has more to do with politics than anything else
