Getting some new shoes on the CRD (After finishing the Timing Belt/Water Pump). Was going to go for some nice highway style tires...but I just can't do it on my OME Lifted Jeep. Decided on the Cooper AT3 tires in the same 255/70/16 size that I run now.

I thought about the exact same tire had my ST for more then 60K still got tread left on them. So I am going to go with another set of them.

I've been researching new meats for my tractor of late too. I have a customer that sells the Cooper tire line. He says that for the money, it's hard to beat the AT3.

I also read that Consumer Reports ranks the AT3 #1 in the All-Terrain category. Although I do mostly highway driving with my CRD, I endeavor to keep the 4X4 part of it alive and well with a proper shoe should the situation present itself.

FWIW,

Well I am glad I put them on...rained 1.8" last night and has been a downpour all day here in San Antonio. It floods here if you spit...so the tires were a welcomed addition. Can't tell anything about noise levels ect...but I have them at 38psi and they seem to ride just fine. For $600.00 (from a friend with no tax or mounting fees)...I feel good.

I know Discount Tires sells them for $140.00 each but you still have to add tax, mounting, balancing, disposal ect. Three of my tires still had some life in them so I "recycled" them to a business next door who needed some used shoes.

I put AT3's on my CRD last fall, best thing I could have done. I was mountain lion hunting last winter and never had a problem getting around with 6-7 inches of snow.

I will take a couple pics today. I will say anything larger and some trimming would be needed. At full turning lock, they will hit the front sway bar with the outside tread...but doesn't cause any real issues.

Cool. I want something slightly larger than stock, but don't want to effect the turning radious or have to really cut much.

With no lift you can fit 235/70/16s without any issues. The 235's still look good after an OME lift too.

But the 255/70/16s are definitely "meatier" and fit great.

Looking good! The white lettering looks good with your color, I'm thinking about doing the black wall out with my black Jeep. The sidewalls go well with tread for a solid look.

I've been a Cooper fan for quite a while. The CRD came with BFG Long Trails, and I'm ITCHING to replace them with some AT3's. Maybe when I get my work bonus in 3 months. Can anybody who has gone from a highway to all terrain or vice versa give real world mileage difference input? Not to hijack your thread, and I'm unsure what you had on it before.

Do you use any "tire wet" products on your tires? Will you?

I usually don't use too much of any product on my tires...but I do like the new Lucas Tire Dressing. Not so messy and seems to last a while. The blackwall side is also good looking as far as sidewalls IMO.

I have had more time on these and they ride better than the Hercules All-Tracs (which I liked). I had Toyo HTs before that and I can say these seem to run as quiet as those did (from memory). They of course MUCH BETTER than the stock Goodyears that came on the CRD :goink:

Yeah, I saw that Lucas product the other day. Maybe I'll give it a try. I've used Turtlewax tire foam, and two different Armor All tire products but am still looking for "the one."

What do you have on for your spare, Darby?

I don't carry the spare day to day...I have a plug kit and compressor in the Jeep ... and ... my AAA membership for anything I can't DIY on the road. I open my back flip glass/door at least 5 times a day and it is so much lighter without the spare. I take my dog everywhere and I figured it would be easier on the swingate hinge...
