Welcome to the forum. My personal opinions and suggestions:
1. download the 05 and 06 factory manuals from Sir Sam's link (05 lacks diesel cooling system data and general diagnostics but has keys to illustrations while 06 is the reverse). The 2 model years are virtually identical except the 06 has electronic stability control so it has 4 wheel speed sensors (05 has 2 in front and rear shares one over top of differential) and cannot have traclok (e.g. limited slip rear end.
2. do as much of the work on the vehicle as you can yourself
3. assume unless you have proof otherwise that the previous owners did not pay attention to proper fluids (HOAT only antifreeze, proper weight synthetic diesel oil, and ATF+4 in tranny and other appropriate spots) so change the fluids ASAP.
4. if the serpentine belt has not been changed then change it - Gates K061130 is fine, no need to pay Mopar belt price.
5. forget chips of any type as all they do is "trick" the system. What you are calling Eco Boost is probably the GDE EcoTune (
http://www.greendieselengineering.com/g ... ethod=home) read up on it. It's worth every penny IMHO.
6. you are going to need a timing belt job in about 20,000 miles, start collecting parts and saving up for it. Members scattered all over the country have tools and can help do the job.
7. mpg without GDE tune (assuming hwy speeds ca. 62-65, no headwind as the vehicle is an aerodynamic brick, no heavy towing, etc) will be 19/27 (in town/hwy) and with tune 22-23/32-33
If you email me I can send you copies of some of the tips/hints I've collected from the forum over the years.
