After many off road trips , i decided to re-new my drive train.
The KJ is at the mechanic shop and here is the list of replacement:
-FRONT:
new disc brakes (Brembo)
new pads
new bearing (Temkin, thanks to your advices!)
new brakes Caliper (re-manufactured)
new U-joint for the drive shaft
new shocks (Koni heavytracks, i always found my OME too spongy)
-REAR:
new disc brake (Mopar)
new brake pads
new bearings for control arms (axle + body sides)
new bearing for central control arm (V shape stuff)

Hope with all this that the ride will be smooth as the first miles.
check out all these goods when I dopped the KJ at the mechanic:

Cheers!

Topan,

Don't forget to do the handbreak pads to since you are changing the rear disk & pads, you might as well chenge them to ( I forgot to do them when I changed all disk & pads on mine, 10K later need new one's!)

good point Phil,
i have done them on my own about 2 months ago, a serious head ache as i had to remove and replace the mechanism (2 pieces) that split open the pads, not easy.
but this is done.

and i forgot:
new brake fluid
new transmission fluid (ATF+4)

So far, the work is running smooth and i should get the KJ back this week.

Price and link for the Koni Shocks? Completely bolt in, no Macgyvering required? What you're saying is that they'll have a firmer road/offroad ride then even the OME?

Front shocks mounted on my 1.5 Frankenlift:
Koni - Heavytrack 8240-1201 SPX

Yes, i do expect a firmer ride than the OME, but will hopefully confirm this tonight when I get the KJ back from my mechanic... :pepper:

what you have to consider is that I have a CRD, quite heavier than a gas one. And the OME always been too soft for me. I raised the point many times in this site and even called back Boulderbars in the US, but they had no good ideas, they advised me to re-do the geometry and ensure that the sway-bars were fixed ( ), which I did.

....got the KJ back !!

...and i can tell you that the ride is AWESOME compared to before !!
1. the Front hubs were replaced and mines were seriously dead
2. The Front shocks (Heavy Track) are absolutely much better than the OME (that may have had a problem since the day I got them) . The damping is firmer BUT is not less comfortable. At the opposite, the KJ swallows small to medium road bumps without moving. The most obvious improvement is when the shocks extends (hole or end of speed bump), this is smooth very comfortable. Thank you TONY !!
I have now to see how I upgrade my rear OME.... (Rancho maybe)

3. Only small disapointment are the brakes, I replaced the calipers, the disks (Brembo), and the pads and frankly the bite at the pedale is soft, spongy. Ok , it stops and does it with no noise, but its spongy..... maybe some air in the fluid ?...

Topan,

Did you keep the same amount of Lift compared to OME shocks before? I take it you front Coils are OME 790 being a CRD.

Hi Fil,
yes, the lift is the same, which i believe is set by the Spring (=OME 790)

If you are looking for a firmer , yet comfortable ride, go for it ! :D

Topan,
not for now, I am happy with my OME, but one day it well go, so it's good to know what might be a good replacement (or if I change KJ for a newer one what to fit).
