My dealer did the 18-009-06 without any hassle today. I explained the problem, they tested it and check DC, saw the upgrade and did it. I didn't push for the tranny filter upgrade as when I read that TSB mine does none of the things that are mentioned there. The SR told me that the OD shifting late in the morning was common as the transmission fluid had to heat up to a specific temp before it would engage. I have never experience the delayed shift into R or 1st that is mentioned in the TSB. That being said, I will crawl under there soon and check the transmission build date to see if mine might have the issue down the road.
Now lets talk about the upgrade. I noticed smoother shifting almost immediately and I believe a lower shift point almost immediately in town. Tonight on the way home I noticed a big difference. I have about a 10 mile drive on 55 MPH paved road. One hill early on is just after the 55MPH starts and we almost all drive that whole road at 60MPH. Most nights it will shift out of OD on the that hill and at least one other. The only down shift tonight was when I had to slow for a turning truck. I think I will notice a definate improvement in mileage as a result.
I also got to know my SR better and found out that he is a mud and back trail junkie who wishes his Rubicon had a CRD in it! We perused the ARB site for about 15 minutes and he told me the ARB bumper is a great option to add. He added one to his Rubicon. Told me that they were not as heavy as you might expect and didn't think I would need a spring lift unless I permanantly mounted a winch.
On the other hand OldNavy, he told me to stay away from your CCV filter until it was out of warranty. He told me that they had not seen any turbos pulling oil from the crankcase on the ones they service and that this was the kind of after market add on the DC looked for to void warranties. Perhaps I will just buy it and see if they change their minds or store it for 4.5 years.

Two things, if you have the build date on the tranny that matches the TSB, you have the filter replaced ASAP or you can have a Torque Converter replaced later, or the whole tranny if shutters too hard at wrong time and that is a fact. What your tranny is doing "if" it has the wrong filter in is it's running with a dry torque converter and that ain't good and they won't last long doing that beleive me.
As for this clowns CCV filter comment it just shows how little he knows about a diesel and how the EGR works. Just pull the top large hose with the screw clamp and pull it off and look. It will have oil in the hose, and that ain't a real good thing. Us e a little of what you learn here and then go educate the man in a polite way. If that fails you better start looking for a different dealership.
Yes it will be easy to remove.
