I think worrying about your tune is a bit much in some cases. I did ask if there would be any connection to the starscan for any reason when I made the appointment, they said no. they then pulled this 14 point service check on me when I took it in. I have an ECO tune and a provent. they said noting about those things, they checked the fluids tires and brakes, all were checked off as good.

I lost a key and I am not trusting the dealer to program the key I am getting from ebay for that reason and they want $40 and a locksmith will do it for $25 if I take it in to them

Be very careful of eBay key purchases as I've been burned. I don't know about the fob key but I can tell you for certain that the "chipped" keys (the one that can be programmed to use as an ignition key as opposed to a dumb key) for the 05 and 06 model years are absolutely NOT the same. At first glance they look the same and the physical part of the key can be cut to fit both 05/06 key holes but the 05 key cannot be programmed to use as an ignition key on an 06 (whether the reverse is true I don't know). The only visible difference is a tiny letter (don't recall what letter and stoutdog is on the road so I cannot look at his key) stamped on the 06 key in the metal up near the plastic key head that contains the chip.

thanks I did know there was a difference I have checked with the vendor and they claim on the site it is for 2006 models of the liberty and other Chrysler products. I will of course check this all out when I have it in hand. Looking at my one last original key there are no numbers stamped on the metal shank of the key, only on the plastic. what I got ordered is the key with the fob built in to the key head

things like this are stamped in the plastic
IC: 267F-65981772
P/N: 05189230AA
FCC ID: M3N65981772

I guess I can compare those from mine to the new one. the vendor has a garantee and 30 return policy

Read my post carefully. I said I don't know about the fob key (FYI it appears you are ok as the 05 and 06 parts manuals clearly list different part #s for the fob key and the number you show is the 06 number). The simple "chipped" key (typically with a grey head) is what I was referring to. There are or were when I bought a lot of vendors saying they sold an "chipped" key that would work in any 05 or 06. Mechanically that's true electronically that's false. You cannot program a "chipped" 05 key to use as an ignition key in an 06, I tried or more accurately a locksmith and my dealer tried.

So my dealer actually fd-up the recall  ! My wife drove it back form the dealer last night complaining about a rattle. Sure enough I take it for drive and there is a nasty rattling / clunking noise coming from under the rear drivers side where the control arm joins the frame. Checked bolts and all is tight. They also forgot to give me back my wheel lock removal tool... Jeep is back at dealer this morning, needless to say I was not happy when I dropped it off and they knew it
This is a simple procedure, and had they test drove it they would have known immidiatley there was an issue. Now I bet they will say my shocks are finished or blame something else

yeah I did see that I wasn't trying to be a jerk or any thing. I really didn't want a non Fob key to replace that one. I would get a grey non remote one for a 3rd key maybe. the part numbers I posted were off the one key I have left and I am going to compare that to the new ebay one before taking it anywhere. if there is a problem I plan to return it. And you are correct there are a lot of sellers claiming one key fits all so your advise was sound, trust me I was cautious in what I picked and am crossing my fingers its the correct one.

I would like to have a 3rd key but I'm not buying one now because I know my luck.... it might not be long after I replace the lost one that it shows up someplace stupid. Trust me on that one too... I once found a set of keys in the deep freeze :ROTFL: I must have had then in hand and dropped them putting food away from Sam's club.

Ok I also just checked the Ebay listing I bought from and they list the manufacture part # as 05189230AA same as mine so as long as I get exactly that I'm golden.

now I'm done hijacking this thread for now

Same thing happened to me. My son took it in this past Monday, came back & said there's a knocking noise in the back, I drove it, & sure enough it's banging going over bumps. Sounded like they left something loose. Took it back the next morning & got it fixed, it's good now. They told me the had to 'readjust' the control arms...yea OK.

Yes they gave me some lame excuse also because my exhaust is tied with a bungee cord to keep it from rattling. I checked it before I brought it back and all was tight, also the noise was from the opposite side anyways.... I think they forgot some type of bushing or something as all the bolts were tight. Regardless they fixed it and all is well now.
