Anybody know how or what those chrome nut things on the Renegade flares work/are? Do they pry off? I want to paint my flares and it looks like it would be easier to take the chrome thingies off but I don't want to break them.

they come off. when you take the flare off you can access them from the back side and they pry apart

Clip on the back side of them , so complete removal of flare is needed

:ROTFL: need pictures too?!?

You are going to need all new plastic rivets, plastic rivet gun, and possibly some of the other type of plastic clips that are used (if you break them). There is a post on lost about where to get the plastic clips
I started by removing 1 flare to investigate what was actually holding the flares on... use some imagination.

I'd rather know what I'm doing and be prepared before I tear into anything. It's my only vehicle! :D Yeah, pictures would be really cool! lol   I was hoping I could paint them on the Liberty by masking off the nuts and paint. Hmmm, didn't I see some liquid masking product somewhere? 8)

that liquid masking is pretty cool. never seen that before. I have masked mine off when I did them. Just wrap the tape around really well.

That's what I'll do. Blue masking tape I have!!! Just got back from home depot. The have PlastiDip, RustOleum for plastics, and RustOleum Trim and Bumper paint. I think I'll try some Trim and Bumper paint.

http://rustoleumautomotive.com/ nice website!
Paint For Plastic is available in silver, satin black, gloss black, white and red. they specifically mention automotive plastics.
Trim and Bumper comes in black and charcoal.

Are your flares the textured grey? I saw rustoleum hammered for plastic at lowes that I wanted to try to match the other hammered painted steel I have.

Slight hijack but does anyone know the variations on rivited renegade flares? I thought I have seen textured grey and black plastic and smooth painted ones but I can't find a confirmation on which model/color scheme came with what.

I used the regular hammered rustoleum for all my projects but it doesn't match the oe gray fender flares. It was the closest I found. But now that I look at it, it would look better black with the little touches of chrome I have on it now.

Yours is a silver renegade? With black flares or the grey ones?
