Hey guys and girls,
The dates for Lost Moab 2013 have been set for April 20 through April 27th. This is just some preliminary info so you can get your dates set. We will set up home base at the Kokopelli Lodge. Some of us stayed there in May and it was really cool with awesome people running it, they are also pet friendly and do not charge you extra for have a pet which is awesome! Its not a very big motel with only 9 rooms, but it is worth every penny. So, with that being said we reserved the whole place for our Lost event next year. 3 rooms have already been booked and I have a list started below. You can go ahead and call in your reservation and give them reservation number 30001 and also mention my name ( Wally Crandall ) this will get you the discounted rate. Please do not wait, these rooms will not last. We all had an incredible time in Moab this year and it will even be bigger and better next year! When you make your reservation ask them for your room number and post it to the list below.
Thanks
Wally

Is there camping around the Lodge? I'm planning to be there this year, but would prefer to tent camp.

There is not any camping at the Lodge itself, but there are all kinds of campgrounds in and around Moab, you should be able to find something without any problem.

thanks

If you end up not wanting to tent camp and don't mind a Hostel there is the Lazy Lizard Hostel that I've never heard bad things about, cheap and place to lay your head and get a shower when you need it.

Gotcha...I'll be getting in on the 20th, is there an itinerary being worked yet for the week? Should we start a new thread to get the topic rolling?

there will be an itinerary but we will work on that after the first of the year. I would like to get a little more info on who will be attending, that way we know what kind of trails and other stuff to do. if you have any ideas or requests please post them up we are always welcoming what other people think.

thanks

Poison Spider Mesa; Golden Spike; Gemini Bridges are 3 trails I've never been on and would like to tackle. I'd also like to get up in the La Sals again, they are gorgeous! I know I also plan on a day of travel and hiking through Arches Nat'l Park or Canyonlands.

A couple of classic trails i'd like to hit up again is Long Canyon Rd and Klondike Bluffs (love seeing the dinosaur footprints).

But I'm up for anything, I love the whole area!!

Poison Spider will for sure be on the list again. Golden Spike we would have to play by ear, its a tough trail and long when you combine it with Poison Spider and at that point you might as well do the triple whammy. We will see on that one. Long Canyon and Klondike Bluffs are doable for sure. Another for sure will be Strike Ravine inside area BFE. I have a few more good trails but I don't want to let the cat out of the bag yet. WE will take a day off in the middle of the week so everyone can do what they want or organize small runs, or hikes, or whatever they wish. Its going to be blast! is it time to go yet???

I like that area of Moab. Did Prychett canyon once or should I say got winched through it. My Rubicon on 33's was no match for that trail. If I can make it I will be bringing my Land Cruiser on 35's. Don't know If I will still have the CRD in April.

I'm not going, but I am a Utahn and lived in Moab 8 years. The Lazy Lizard is ok for showers. . $3. I would not camp there, although there's absolutely nothing wrong with going on the cheap (my mode). He does have rooms for $26 and cabins for 30. The nicest campground in town is Up the Creek. http://www.moabupthecreek.com/ The BLM campgrounds have pit toilets, no drinking water. Nor do they have excessive road noise and light pollution.

Locals recommend the Silver Sage motel as the best value.

Enjoy your trip.

KJ On The Rocks: We attended in 2004 which I think was the first one and we were there again for the 3rd in 2006. I think that was when Diane broke her ankle!

We also had a small group run in Silverton/Ouray in those days. Ran Black Bear Pass as well as several others.

Due to some health problems, etc. we have not been able to attend since then but we are trying to plan a trip back to Moab for April 2013 and may try to schedule it where we can attend this one.

In the past we brought our TJ but still have the old faithful 2004 KJ Sport and am looking forward to running some trails in it.

Hope to see some familiar faces there if we make it.

Bill and Charlotte Tolle and the Dachshunds from Jasper, Texas.
