I got lucky-3 electronic keys. I had a key cut for doors, I can lock one in my KK when kayaking.

Got in a 3 car accident on the way home today. Traffic was a little backed up. I was in the middle of the three. The guy in front of me stopped so I slowed down and stopped too. However the person behind me either wasn't paying attention or was going to fast to slow down. She slammed into my rear end pushing me into the guy in front of me. The jeep is drivable just with a banged up front and rear bumper as is the guy in front. However the rear car was pretty bad. Her hood was crumpled half way up towards the windshield and her airbags went off. Everyone was fine but I think the girls passenger was taken to the hospital to be safe.

That sucks, I would cry if my Jeep got in an accident especially if it wasn't my fault. (I think I love it too much) I'm the only one allowed to damage it, and that's only off road.
However, there may be a bright side, the insurance money could be used for new Steel bumpers.

Just got an estiment on the jeep. Right now it's at $3500 and will probably go up when they start taking it apart.

Try asking them if they'll have some bumpers fabbed instead of replacing the plastic.

I just got rear ended myself.
Looks like a new project is on the horizon.
Anybody have a pic with the rear plastic bumper removed?

Atthehelm [and Spacemartian too], sorry to hear you got rear ended. :? Hope you don't have bad neck/back pain from it. It is worth getting yourself checked out by a doctor because these issues can show up months later. The Jeep is easily fixable but people are harder to fix!

I am looking forward to seeing your "new project." A rear bumper that matches your front one would be rather awesome. I am a huge fan of your front bumper, and will keep it in mind if/when I get a lift and plan a cross country trip. :D

Today I began the installation of my new Cobra 75WXST CB radio. I attached the Firestik door jamb mount just above the right tail lamp (drilled my first holes in the Jeep), and ran the antenna cable behind the quarter panel. I have about 12 feet of cable extending into my back seat just now... Tomorrow I'll finish running the cable under the door/floor molding to the dashboard and center console. I'll see how far I get with the electrical wiring. It would be nice to finish the whole project tomorrow if I can. :D

Haha thanks man, mine wasn't exactly devastating but enough to warrant a replacement bumper and paint which comes to about $1000. Amazing how much body work costs. I was hit by a California state employee driving a work truck so we'll see how this plays out.

Washed and am in the process of putting on a fall/winter coat of polish. I have to do it in sections though as I have a partially torn rotator cuff and after awhile, it starts to get painful. So far, the hood, roof, and driver's side are done. All I have left is the passenger side and tailgate, which will get done later today.

Finally got around to painting the hood. Decided to do the grill too while I was at it. Next on the list is to start saving for that ever elusive lift kit, wheels and tires..... If only JBA felt like making a donation....Image

I finished running the antenna wire for my CB behind the interior panels. I also read up on soldering, as I need to attach the connector to the radio end of the antenna coax cable. I will be installing the actual radio soon, hopefully by the end of the week. The trick is finding the time!

I have never owned a CB radio before. Can you point me to a list of standard operating procedures I should read about (CB radio etiquette for lack of a better description), other than renting Smokey and the Bandit?

Channel 9 is Emergency frequency, and 19 is Information. 19 is your best bet if you want to talk to truckers or any body you don't know.
And under no circumstances play music of the radio. That gets so annoying. But it's pretty basic. It's a civilian radio so there's not as much etiquette as there is on an emergency or military net.

Looks good I really like the front grille. Looks sharp.

Things you'll hear on the radio (slang):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_CB_slang

Some tips for communicating with others on the CB:
http://www.wearecb.com/support/tencodes.php

10 codes. The only 10 codes that are widely used anymore are:
10-4 Ok, Message Received
10-20 "What's your location?" or "My location is..." Commonly asked as "What's your 20?"

Got a Trans serviced and new Trans pan, because old one the paint came off. Looks like it was rusted then painted. Paint just peeled off, inside looks bad too.

Got rear ended yesterday...at least he was going slow and only cracked my wiring harness cover and bent that frame. Anyone know how to disconnect the wires from the socket so I can replace that $30 part. He is giving me $150 for the problem.

Mikey, the way the harness connects to the socket is shown on here: http://www.jeepworld.com/accessories/instructions/82210642Ad_wireharness_IFU.pdf

Thanks lfhoward, the issue I'm having is separating the wiring from the connector. I don't want to break the clips...is it as simple and pushing in on the big clip?
