Hello all,

Background info: I just completed installing JBA silver KK lift kit (adjustable strut system) and replace the stock 235/60/18 with 255/70/18 Destination AT (32.1 inch) tires. Took it to the dealer this Saturday to adjust the spedo. The tires have no rubbing due to the pinch well mod.

However, I have one issue which is when I excelerate from a standing stop (say at a stop light) there is a minor shake/wobble/vibration feel for a second or too. This stops after that and everything seems fine. Do any members with lifted kk have this issue?

Thanks in advance for any insight on this issue.

I just installed the JBA 2.5 as well, and I also have a slight vibration that quickly goes away?
What did your dealer charge for the speedometer correction?

Dealers in DC area are expensive. They charged $118 to reprogram the pinion factor. 10 minute job.

What size tires did you put on yours? Also, when you go to the align the thing, your right tire caster may be a bit off, but nothing major.

the other two pics which didn't make it in the first try. Next up is custom made tire carrier since the 32 will not fit the spare tire holder.

Okay, so I brought it to my local dealer Friday, and had it aligned, and the clock spring reset, and the jeep feels great. I think most of the vibration I was feeling, was the ESP just barely kicking in. There is still a very minor, barely perceptible vibration, but I think it's just that the new adjust a strut front end is solid mounted, so any engine vibration is transmitted straight into the suspension from the unit body.

I think you may be right. I took a 200+ mile trip on friday to harrisonburg to a friend's farm to shoot my RRA PDS pistol and carbine. The ride was way better than stock. the vibration is barely noticeable on acceleration for a fraction of a second but I can live with it given the incredible ride quality.

what is the clock spring. on my service sheet they listed it as reseting pinion factor.

The clock spring is in the steering wheel, it's where the ECU gets the steering wheel angle reading.

I won't have bigger tires for a week or so, so I have to go back for the speedometer correction (pinion gear)

oh, then I may have to ask the dealer about the clock spring thing.

Also, wouldn't you have to do another alignment after getting larger tires?

Here's the preliminary pics of fabbing custom tire carrier for the 32 inch tires which now does not fit under the truck. the main goal was to not block rear view mirror and have a extra gas container.

1. basic tire carrier bar:

Image

2. fitting the completed bar onto the mounting bracket so we could weld:

3. making sure the tire does not block rear view or hitch mount.

4. extra image with tire mounted at different angles.

will paint the thing same color as the truck. updates coming by this weekend...I hope

Wow that tire is low, if you go off road any you'll have to remove it first won't you?
Want it up higher and out of the road , if you're afraid of blocking the rear window, thats what mirrors are for
The swing mount what did you use there? Dosn't look like a spindle mount just curious

no, I don't think I will need to remove the tire. It still sits above the tow hitch so the hitch will bottom out first before the tire will. The hinge is a heavy duty hinge from 4x4 comp; I think once it's tighten down it can probably swing the entire truck if it's fastened correctly lol

We've had to remove the tire from the stock location on a KJ before out wheeling when coming down off rocks, so thats why I mentioned it.
Sticking back that far and low will be an issue

I forgot to note that I also wanted to be able to pop the glass lift gate with the tire...second reason for the lower mounted tires. The truck sits pretty high with the jba lift as is and i don't plan to wheel this too much; only light duty romp during hunting trips and such.

I have a beater ford explorer 2 door that is also lifted with 32s that I have no problems putting another dent or two :P

Tom's right, be careful and keep an eye on it for awhile, just in case. If you were worried about visibility, mounting behind the driver is a good choice. You won't even notice it there, that's where mine is, when it's on. :2cents:

thanks guys for the insight and will keep this in mind. 99% of the time, this truck is urban ride and i wanted to have full access to the cargo area at least via the pop up glass tail gate without opening the swing gate. the truck still sits at 37.5" from ground to bottom of fender flare so should be good for most terrains.

like i noted, the 98 ford explorer sport is my go to for beating up the trails. just came back from the outback trail (aka chipmunck trail) on border with va and wva and it out did most of my expectation at 2500+ elevation trails.

again, thanks for the insights and all the combined experiences on this forum!
