I found that the PO of my 2006 KJ, 2.8 CRD had to replace some pulleys from the drive belt, actually the pulley attached to the alternator and the one below that, probably due to a car crash he suffered and instead of buying original parts, he custom made them. So my engine is creating some noise specially when these pulleys slightly go off-axis in their rotation.
So I want to buy the original parts and looked in the Parts fiche but I can't find the exact part number. The drawing is a bit confusing. Maybe somebody with more experience in these matters can help me. Here I attached 2 sheets from the fiche where I added 2 arrows in red showing the 2 pulleys I am looking for and then the sheet where supposedly I can find the part numbers.
These are the sheets from the Parts fiche:
1) http://flic.kr/p/dfKv72
2) http://flic.kr/p/dfKyx1

Help will be really appreciated.
Thank you.

Pictures are not coming thru properly but I'll give it a go. First off the pulley on the front of the alternator is a special "clutched" pulley that's almost certainly impossible to "custom" make in any normal shop. If the PO did make or install a solid pulley in place of the clutched pulley that's going to cause all sorts of problems and needs to be removed immediately. As for the pulley names and PNs starting at the center top of the engine (just left of the piece of metal with a loop at the top behind the cooling fan support) and keyed to the numbers in the online version of the 06 FSM you have:
1. idler pulley - 5066938AA - alternative NAPA 36101 (just lose the big washer)
2. alternator pulley - 53013554AE - alternative or Litens 920720 - can be replaced alone but may be better to simply get a lifetime warranty alternator from like Autozone
3. same as 1
4. AC compressor - probably only serviced as part of the compressor
5. cooling fan support
6. vibration dampner (aka crankshaft pulley) - 5072669AA
7. serpentine belt tensioner - 5072440AB although if just the pulley is bad then it's the same as 1
8. power steering pump
9. NA
10. viscous heater - viscous heater pulley bearing only - 35mm ID X 52mm OD x 22mm thick - can be used to replace a failed bearing - if heater clutch is also bad either replace entire viscous heater (55037539AA) or just replace the bearing and disable the viscous heater by pulling relay R36 in the Power Distribution Center for either model year

Hope this helps.

Thank you papaindigo. The clutched pulley they put in my car is probably one from another car. I guess you are saying that the one I am looking for, the alternator pulley is number 2. I redlined in the drawing from the link I provided the 2 pulleys I am looking for. The other one I am looking for is the pulley that is right bellow the alternator pulley. I can't realize which one is that and I am a bit confused on what direction of rotation you took for listing the pulleys in the drawing.
Thank you!

hgrimberg go to http://colorado4wheel.com/manuals/Jeep/KJ/ and download copies of BOTH the 05 and 06 FSMs (the 05 lacks cooling data and diagnostics but has illustration keys while the 06 is the reverse). Then take a look at the illustration on page 7-31 of the 06 manual. My #s are keyed to that drawing.

The clutched alternator pulley can be removed (using the OEM special tool or some have gotten it off with an appropriate size allen socket and impact wrench) and replaced BUT the replacement must be up to factory specs for the diesel engine (see http://idparts.com/catalog/index.php?cP ... ef6v1rhvi0). A similar size gasser clutched pulley or a "reactive" pulley simply won't stand the strain. Any wobble in that pulley gets directly transmitted to the serpentine belt down to the belt tensioner and can relatively quickly cause the tensioner to fail.

Here in the US some replace just the pulley while others have been able to obtain an inexpensive lifetime warranty alternator with the proper pulley from like Autozone. I see your signature says you have a "Cherokee Liberty (aka KJ)" which indicates you are not in the US. If that's the case I don't know whether sourcing a pulley vs. an alternator is the better option.

Thank you. I am not in the US as you noticed and therefore buying the whole alternator will be too expensive. I ll have to ask the chrysler dealer here, FIAT, if they have just the pulley in stock. There must be a reason why the PO put a non OEM pulley... I will also have to see if i can find the pulley right bellow the alternator. I live in the end of the world, Argentina, so it will be hard to find these parts unless I can buy them online in the US and have them mailed to me.
