I am hearing some noise out of the front that only really is audable When the jeep is warm and over 35mph.
Could this be the cause?

I have no clue how much play is too much but I have experience CV issues on a different vehicle and would note that the noise (clicking or whatever) tends to be worse on turns and the bad joint is the one in the direction of the turn.

If you do replace be careful of what you get as lots of folks have been sold a replacement that's noticeably too short but like 1" or so. IIRC NAPA rebuilds are ok and I think there are DIY rebuild kits out there for just the joint.

I've had this going on for the past 6 months or so and it's getting worse. There is no clunking or clicking when cornering but there is a sort of rattle/thumping which usually occurs at light throttle or when I let off the throttle. Thinking about getting a couple new half shafts from O'reiles.

Don't buy "new" CV axles unless there from the dealership. That can't read the specs correctly in china and they always end up being to short and cause issues.

Buy only remaned CV axles,at least they will be the correct length.

nursecosmo for that rattle/thump sound you might consider motor mounts not CV axles.

I have a similar issue but its hard to descibe the sound.
The sound I am hearing sounds a lot like a bad bearing or more so like a very (its not , all new brakes about a month ago)corroded rotor that is scraping the caliper bracket. As I said its difficult to describe.

Thanks papa, I did consider motor mounts but the the bumping does not corolate with rpm, only with vehicle speeds from 30 to 70 Mph and does not occur with a loaded engine. I'll certainly take another look though.

When I watched you video, I saw the front dif wiggle too, not just the CV, check to see if there is something else loose.

thanks warp, I was going to ask about that also ha! I noticed that the diff mount might be worn, it has a little play in it but the inner shaft play is what I am more concerned about. Is it excessive?

I will definitely not buy the Chinese new parts, its rebuild or reman for me.

Dude! I think I have the same issue. I had a front bearing replaced in the front because that's what i thought the noise was. It's still there. I better try a different shop and see if it's the front shafts.
