Nice! Lookin good so far! What thickness metal did you go with? Stainless or mild? If mild, what are your plans to protect it from rust? Ever hear of POR 15?

Thanks
3/16" skin except for the top and some of the filler plates which will be 10 gauge. Using mild steel, stainless wouldn't very economical.
A good prime and paint or bed liner.

You should look into POR 15. It protects from rust extremely well, and I've never seen something dry so hard in my life. It's really crazy. But I guess it depends what sheen you want on the bumper too. Bed liner wouldn't be bad either. Keep up the good work!

Any plans to add shackle points, towing, and tire, jerry can , hi-lift carrier?
And would you be willing to market it?
I'm still interested in the front bumper, but it will be awhile until I can afford it.

Yes weld through shackle mounts that are tied to the mounts are in.

I really want to incorporate a receiver hitch into mine and most likely it will happen. I am also designing it to be doubled up with my curt class III so if i need to pull something heavy I can rest easy with a certified hitch. Most likely it will work with the mopar hitch too, but a hitch will not be incorporated into the bumper itself and the lower lip will need to be notched to clear the mopar hitch.
I am not putting any carriers on this one, but it is possible to add them later.
A far as marketing, I am not going to get into it as a real business or anything, I just don't have the time. Its more just a side hobby in my spare time. At this time I have enough steel and welding consumables to make two more bumpers front or rear. I should have another front winch bumper ready to ship in the next couple of months.

Looking good.
I understand wanting a certified hitch but you really think the capability/capacity would go down?

Thanks everyone!
Made good progress today.
More peices tacked and bottom lip mocked up.

All tacked together, just missing a couple small peices.

Nicely done Atthehelm!

I was wondering when you would post pics of this project.

I was away for a week in Costa Rica and sadly to report, only saw one Jeep in San Jose. Everything else were toyota, suzuki, hundais, and mitsubusi (sp?). For a country that rugged, I would have loved to see a really suped up/customized jeep.

You all would have *hit your pants on some of the trails to the vocano...well at least some of you :ROTFL: :ROTFL:

Looks awesome atthehelm !

Did you end up wanting to keep openings for the OEM hitch?

Meh. It'll definetely need to be notched to work with the oem hitch. I think I can safely integrate a receiver though so I'm not as concerned about it anymore. Just need to pickup a receiver tube and some tube to reinforce it.
