Wow! Think before you use Sears online.

I was researching prices and do research on tires when I found Firestone Destination AT's at a great sales price on Sears Online. These tires are up near the top on Tire Rack.

The sale was for LT245/75/16's for $139.96 EACH!!!

I called and ordered and the lady said she would ensure my nearest Sears Auto Center would get them and contact me (this was on Sat, 12 Nov). I get a call (they left a voicemail) on Vets Day (Mon 14 Nov) from the store saying that Firestone discontinued making those and that they had Hankooks for $179 each!!!! Sounds like Bait and Switch to me.

I call and leave a msg for the lady that called telling her I don't want the Hankooks since they are rated way down on Tire Rack. I called Sears Online that Friday and the guy I talked to says there were no notes or info on my order.

By the way, Sears had already charged my credit card by Monday (Vets Day) w/o even providing any service or product.

The guy on the phone searches for the tires and finds a set and makes a note to my local Sears and says they should ship there and etc...etc....etc....

I get a call finally on Tues, 27 Nov saying the tires are in. I go after work and they said it would take up to an hour to install the tires. I told them I would be in the Waiting Room. 1 1/2 hrs go by and I get up and look in their bay. No cars. I go to the front counter (guy is there with nobody around). I ask if my KJ was done. He looks at a stack and finds my KJ. Uhhh!!!! Nobody came and got me!!! Pissed about that.

Gets better!

It is dark so I can't see how the tires look so I wait until Wednesday at work and look at the tires and notice they are P-metric, not LT!!!! ARRRRR!!!!!
I wait to get home to verify all email and paper receipts and they all say LT as I had ordered.
I called the local store on Thursday raising hell. They said they would do their best to find a set of LT's. I get a call back later and they have a set (apparently, a technician had to drive to Colorado Springs to get them). The manager says she will deduct the difference ($30). I haven't figured out what "the difference" is since I had paid everthing online way back when....but I'll take it.

So....with that, I will never shop Sear's Auto Center again.

I hope you think about this experience the next time you think about going to them.

I went to sears auto to get some Goodyear wrangler silent armors. The guy said he called(picked up the phone right in front of me and never said a word while on the phone)Goodyear directly and said that they said they don't make them anymore. Went to a Goodyear a couple towns over they had them and then some. Learned my lesson at sears.

I ordered my BFG at/ko's from Sears and set up an appointment to have them put on. I drove a half hour into town to get em put on, waited an hour in the mall before they called to say that they only had 3 in stock  . Drove home another half hour. Waited a few days for the 4th to come in. Went back and instructed them to keep my best old tire/rim for the spare since I have the matching 5th, and was doing a 5-tire rotation schedule. When they finished, my best old tire was in the back of my jeep, unmounted and sitting next to the rim. So I waited another half hour for them to remount it. The only time they'll ever see me again is to exchange my abused and broken craftsman tools for free...

Man thats bad servise to say in the least. If we don't have a customers set of 4 tires mounted, balanced and bolted on in less than an hour I'm given them a discount on the tires. That kind of service deff wouldn't fly here

Wait till you have to do a set of 325/25R20's or any rims sizes above 24".

I stopped shopping at sears a few years ago when they gave me a hard time on some tires for my Ranger. Factory size was 215/70R-15 and I was looking to buy 215/75R-15 . They ouright refused to sell them to me becasue it wasnt the factory supplied size. WTF. I chalk it up to their people being clueless & not knowing what they're doing.

Many places will not install non-fatory sized tires,it is a huge liability issue they do not want to deal with.

nobody else has given me any arguement over what size tire I buy. They advise me of the standard size and any adverse handling characteristics that may arise from my choice and then install what I want. Ive found Mavis Tire to have the best prices & service around here.

The fact that Sears auto service is still in business is a testament to the poor job that consumers do researching the products and services that they buy and use. There have been countless reports and stories done to prove how dishonest Sears auto is. Just do a search on Youtube and you'll find plenty of them, done by 20/20 and Dateline and independent news stations. Sears has NEVER touched ANY of my vehicles.

Never had an issue with them in the past. My biggest concern is Firestone stores. They have tried to rip me off at three different locations THROUGHOUT the USA, not just in the same area.
