Hi, After having posted that my gears were not shifting well when hot, I have checked the temp of my by passing cooler : 224 degree F. ...

I have installed a by-pass cooler in order avoid replacing the costly stock one . This was done a few month ago:

Any idea what it could be ? Clogged filter ?
Need to install a Hayden fan clutch with a better fan ?

Thanks !

You can try what the dealer replaced on mine when my tranny was overheating, they replaced the transmission temperature sensor, located somewhere on the transmission, I don't know. According to the jeep mechanic, the engine light does not come on when the sensor malfunctions.

They also replaced the cooler, hoses, and filters.

also if you remember those pictures of the mud ??

make sure all of that got washed out of the fins in the radiator (without bending the fins)

I will look for the part number of the temp sensor and order one,
For the radiator clogged with mud, I don't think it is as I clean the front with pressured water, the trans cooler is really clean now.

I am also wondering if the high temp might not damage the trans ?

I was told that allowing the transmission to reach high temps, will eventually damage the transmission.

Definitely do not tow with it.
