Been trolling the threads trying to get a handle on whats good, whats cheap, whats bad and cheap, etc. Wife gave me a xmas card for a lift (yay

) that I've been wanting for while.
I'm looking for a 2-3 inch lift. I've looked at jeepinbyal and RRO. I'm not looking to build a rockcrawler but just looking to beef up the suspension and gaining some ground clearance in the process. All the extra armor I've added seems may be keeping all 4 tires planted on the ground but it's starting to (or at least feels like it) get closer to the ground then I would like and has kept me from doing much off roading. Not that I do a bunch but nice to know I won't leave a part or two behind when I do take it off road. I currently have 255/65 16's Hancook ATM's with future thoughts of going to a 17/18 inch wheel.
I've already decided against spring compression. No DAYSTAR for me (and the Jeep dealer guy who is doing this said they won't sell DS's anymore.
I've been looking at OME. There's one that says 1.50 lift for 750.00 and has all 4 springs/shocks. I'm adding the A arm kit but says nothing about bumpers. I assume though I need these regardless what kit I get. SO, look likes I'm around the 1200.00 mark.
The other kit (ROCKFATHER DELUXE) from Rocky Road Outfitters. It has everything but rear springs. It's going to run around 1100.00, so if any thing, looks like I'm going to drop up to 1200.00 and that's including labor.
Left msg for jeepinbyal to call me (questions if the bump stoppers are part of the kit or cost).
I'm sure I can shop around, get something close to if not the same hardware and some places will even give a military discount but there seems to be more people going to RRO and Jeepinbyal I've kinda zero'd in on them.
Views?
I started with the RRO over the top spacer lift and I wasn't very happy with it. It uses the stock suspension and just adds 2" spacers and rear shocks. The front shocks would bottom out all the time even with extended bump stops. I was looking at their setup with the 1 1/2" (actually 3/4") extended top plate and OME springs. Didn't seem like a good choice. I looked at JBA's site and saw the OME setup. I added two 1/4" spacer plates above the front coilovers, JBA upper control arms, teraflex bumpstops, 3/8" clevis lift and the 2" spacer from my old lift on the rear along with another mopar spring isolator. The ride is incredibly stable, firm but not stiff and I think I have enough clearance to run 31"x10.5-15 tires, of course the rims need enough backspace to clear the lower ball joint bolt (3 3/4"). There may need to be a little pounding and trimming but they should fit ok. The only way I'd change the setup I have would be to put a JBA 4" lift on.
Jeepin by Al is a top notch company that standa behind their products 100% and the owner is a pretty good guy to deal with especially if you have questions, even problems.
I don't regret a penny of the purchase from JBA except that I wish I'd done that one first. Personally, I wouldn't buy the lift anywhere else. I will probably go there for my lockers and gears as well, just need a few more bucks.
The adjust a strut 2 1/2" lift is also a good option if you have the cash. They built that one with Offroad racing components.
Hope this helps.
