Got it turning over, it needed the skim key for the keyfob, should be running strong this weekend, emissions yea, lol taking it to a non emissions country here in PA, wiring is a crop of the 3.7 and 4.7 a lot of splicing mulitple wires together into one wire, only custom bit besides the wiring is the mounts needed moved back a little on the block, and as for the parts being the same, yes the motor I got was In a front end collision and the water pump pulley was bent tensioner pulleys gone, and harmonic balancer broken, took all those parts off my 3.7 and they went right on, join the LOST kjs page on FB I've uploaded some there.

This is awesome! Can you provide the complete parts list that you ended up using?

What about the ECM? Anything that you wouldve done differently in hindsight? Avoidable headaches and such?

I have been planning on doing the same thing. Your experience will make mine much easier! :)

As a new member to this forum, I want to take a moment to introduce myself. I have years of experience as an Automotive Technician and an Electronics Specialist. I have a strong background in off-road vehicles and Jeeps in particular. I have been watching all the discussions on V8 swaps in a Liberty for several years. I had no special interest until I started using a 2003 KJ as my daily driver, it did not take long for me to install a lift and tires. That is when I realized the limits of the 3.7l V6. I have spent a lot of time researching the feasibility of the 4.7l V8 engine swap and the parts that would be required. After almost a year of searching, I finally located a donor 2002 Grand Cherokee for the right price and decided it was time to complete the first V8 Liberty. Yes I realize there is an earlier attempt, but after 6 months without success and knowing what it takes to complete, I decided not to wait for someone else to do it first. Both Jeeps went into the garage on November 16, 2012 and the transformation began. With the help of a couple friends, we worked on the swap every couple of days for a few hours after work. Within two weeks the Liberty came out of the garage for a shake down test. It has now been over a month without any issues, and I decided it was time for the unveiling. I will be posting pictures and video of the completed Liberty soon.

also post up a total cost for the swap i am getting sick of someone sayin to do anything on the KJ will cost 20,000

But cost depends on how you want to do it.
Of course you can find a 500 dollar motor and transmission and throw it in on the cheap
or you can do it right with a new / rebuilt motor, new or rebuilt trans etc , all done so there would be no issues down the road at all
For me if I was doing it it would be new all the way so I wouldn't have to mess with anything for a long time again

Here is a picture of the engine fully installed. Everything is in the factory location and can still use a scan tool with the diagnostic connector under the dash. I am in the process of uploading videos now and will post links as soon as they are done.

As for spending $20k on a engine swap, not a chance. As for "doing it right," there is no other way. If you find the right donor with low milage and that runs good, there in no reason to waste money and rebuild it.

That's Impressive
(although you should fasten your seat belt)

I've heard the Engineers at Jeep build a couple but it never went into production
the reasons offered didn't make sense.

My guess is that a 4.7 Liberty - would have put a serious dent in the Grand Cherokee market and the sales guys killed it.
