Interesting question. I've never seen documented even semi-official production numbers If one is focusing on the KJ with the 2.8L then I'd love to see valid #s for:
2. US market production/sales for 05 and 06. (NOTE - I'm not sure if that market included Canada or not; info is unclear).
FYI numbers are reported are for the NORTH AMERICAN MARKET and last time I checked that meant Canada too
The first page of the F-37 recall notice says "applies to vehicles produced Through November 6, 2005"
Lower on the page it says "...ON ABOUT 11,200 OF THE ABOVE VEHICLES MAY FAIL"
We know that includes ALL of the 2005 production and some 2006 production. We also know they stopped producing them in April 06. That's an official date stated somewhere.
Believe what you want but these numbers are more then "even semi official". It's anyone's guess how many were produced in the final 6 months
Did you read Sam has written
"IIRC stock revs/mile is 721 for the speedo, and 725 for the odometer"
Sure looks like unmodified units give different readings
So that leads me to think your "dead on" speedometer and odometer programming has been changed

I've not found concrete rev's per mile for our stock 225/75/16 tires but there is clearly a 4 revolution per mile difference in the two readings
