My 2006 KJ CRD is up for sale.

The vehicle has a cracked head and is in need of some work.

But everything else is in perfect working order!

-Power windows
-Michelin tires in great shape
-Cruise control
-Towing package
-Alloy wheels
-Four wheel drive
-Turbo charged

If you are in need of a parts car to support your KJ CRD or are in the mood to put a new head on the engine please respond in this thread with your email and I'll send you some more details.

The vehicle is located in Northern California.

And another one dies of a coolant leak.

Croatan, I am sorry to hear that.

Do you know how and when the coolant leak began?

I do not know how it began, but I believe it started a couple months ago...

I would like to know the following:

Did you or the PO perform the scheduled 5 year coolant flush or a coolant replacement?

Good question Racer. I assume you are wondering if this was a result of not getting all the air out after a coolant change, causing hot spots in head, cracking, etc. I am very nervous about this with my upcoming TB service.

Did you ever work out a surefire method of getting all the air out?

Doc444, yes I did get all the air out.

I installed a temporary 5/8" diameter Prestone cooling system Flushing "T" at the very top and in front of the yellow oil filler tube, where the 5/8" rubber hose meets the metal tube that goes around to the FCV.

I used the "T" as a vent, I unscrewed the cap to let the air out after a fifteen minute drive. I saw the coolant level drop down from the expansion tank right away and I jumped for joy when I saw it happening. What a relief. Just measure how much coolant comes out and make sure that the same amount goes in.

When the cooling system was full again, I then removed the Prestone coolant flush "T" and brought the vehicle back to stock. I didn't need to splice the OEM coolant hose, I just used a small piece of 5/8 coolant hose that I had lying around.
