CRD TCM

Can someone tell me where a 2005 TCM is located? Dose any one have a picture of what it looks like too?

See http://www.greendieselengineering.com/f ... st/91.page . If you are removing it be extremely careful on the reinstall not to "spin" the retaining nut that's captured in plastic as that makes future removal extremely difficult.

My removal required lots of wiggling and gentle prying as the connections apparently plug in really tight hence going back on is really tight hence the above caution.

Be careful not to knock apart the wiring harness plugs, your AC may quit working.
Search for and check out posts on the '03 RAM TCM.

So is your just a stock 2003 ram TCM 3.7L?

Some people use a Ram TCM. Some Hemis are matched to 5-45RFE transmissions. Warp has the most success. I had my ram TCM reflashed by Keith at GDE and like the reflash.

The Ram TCM is out of an '03 5.7L 1500 and needs to be retrained.
The search function on this forum is poor to say the least.

This TCM has the capability of destroying your engine if you allow it to spike, there are no preventative measures in the ecm or tcm that will stop the engine from spiking.

If it spikes, it will damage the engine and may even throw a rod through the block.

Listen to Geordi. I believe that his last engine may have been damaged by this TCM if in fact he had installed in his CRD at the time of break down.

I can tell you all about the engine failures, and the havoc that happens if you ever put your foot on the floor with even a STOCK CRD.

That said, I did not have the Ram TCM installed when the second engine grenaded on me.

I do not agree with Warp2Diesel's assessment of this TCM, he claims to have good luck with it... While I liked the feel of what it did generally, I don't like that it will allow the engine to potentially exceed safe limits. I sent the ram TCM to Keith so he could examine the code and maybe combine it with his TCM program, I don't know how that has progressed.

The only thing I can think of that the ram TCM is capable of doing, is commanding a much higher fluid line pressure from the pump, which is why it feels so much more "grippy" on delivering the power to the road. Yes, it feels great, and very very snappy. What potential damage is also being caused / allowed? I don't know. Using this tcm, you are very much in uncharted waters.

From my understanding, engine maximum RPMS are set in the ECM (engine control module). So with the trany, the only way to over-rev the engine would be to downshift into 2nd from a high rate of speed. Even then, the TCM may not allow the trany to drop into a lower gear due to high flow rates in the internal hydraulic lines causing an over-rev condition.

With the ram TCM, it will downshift on you and send you well over 4000 RPM. I didn't care for that. That is why I sent it to Keith for reprogramming. Warp says his is trained to not do that. I didn't have the patience to train mine and didn't want to risk anything while towing.
