It's been two months since I've had any problems starting since replacing injectors. That seemed to have fixed it. Replaced Cam and Crank sensors and the fuel pump and fuel rail solenoids
which didn't seem to fix the problem.

So the other day I was running errands and POW - hot not start after sitting for about 10 minutes. Ended up leaving overnight. Started fine in the morning.
This time it threw a P0105 code - MAP sensor after trying to start it numerous times. Cleaned the MAP sensor (was dirty but not horrible). Started fine.
Did it again today after sitting for 2 hours, the engine only a little warm.

Can the MAP sensor cause the engine not to fire or is the P0105 code coming up because the engine isn't catching?

According to the 06 FSM P0105 is an inlet (fuel) pressure sensor issue for whatever that's worth. I note you have an 06 so is it possible you have chaffed wires where the harness goes behind the fuel filter head that's intermittently causing a bad signal? I ask because some of the diagnostics for this code relate to "wiring" issues.

Hmm. I originally thought that meant a MAP sensor problem but it just says inlet pressure sensor plausability. I don't think it means fuel.
Because under checking for air leaks on 9-757 it says to remove the inlet pressure sensor and blow smoke into it.....don't think that can be a fuel port.
I will check behind the fuel head but it looked good 6 months ago when I put in the new fuel head.

I Googled the P0105 code and it pretty much says MAP sensor.

Update: The phantom starting issue re-surfaced three times this week! The last incident was the weirdest because it acted like it had run out of gas after it finally started after an hour and a half of cooling off. This led me to wonder if the lift pump was failing. Took it to a diesel mechanic who scanned the system and everything read fine. Decided to R/R the solenoid type lift pump.
While replacing the lift pump I discovered a loose crimp connector supplying power to the pump (wire just pulled out of the connector) . Hmmm? Could be the cause of the start problem? Remember everything except the CP3 pump has been replaced in the system and it's pressure read fine when tested. Went ahead installed the pump with new connectors properly crimped. Have to wait and see if the gremlins appear. So far two days with no issues.

I'll post some pressure sensor readings I've done in a separate topic. Could be useful for troubleshooting.
