Hey guys, it's that time for me (actually, I am on barrowed time by 10K miles YIKES).

Does anyone have a time belt replacement pin set for the let and right cam and the fly wheel? These are parts VM.1052, VM.1053, and VM.1083 from Miller Speciality (and that's without a pin wrech or a wrench to break the cam timing pulley bolts loose).

Looks like I also need a "pin wrench" in order to properly tension the idler pulley(s)??? Never had to do that on a domestic/gasser.

Thanks,

Marc

BTW, which GDE tune do you have and would you recommend it? Good value?

I have a ECO tune. I was just looking to delete the EGR and improve MPG and power slightly. I dont beleve in pushing diesel engines. So i did not add any higher tunes.

My mechanic used the correct size rubber tubing with a drill bit inside for the correct size to make his own pins.

Just an idea..

You can order a Sealey kit which has all 3 pins and your wrench for under $100 shipped.

The VM.1085 is another monster altogether.

GDE Rents the Timing Tools, I don't believe they include the Pin Wrench though. You can also rent the tools from me, Check my signature, it will be a few weeks before they are back though.

The pin wrench is something of a pain to use. I'd suggest you take a look at the GDE timing belt replacement instructions for how to substitute 2 crossed allen wrenchs of the appropriate size. Looks like that might be easier to use.

PM sent. I may have a wrench pin for the tensioner pulley if it is the same as the one used on the TDI. I will have to find it, as I haven't used it in years.

I work in Louisville, and live like 3 miles to downtown Louisville. I would love to help with the job.

I used a universal dohc lock tool from napa ($40) and you can grab the idler pulley with a pair of channel locks just fine to adjust it.
