Hey everybody,

After changing the fuel filter today, I found a 110 volt plug by the air intake into the engine on the drivers side. Did these come standard or do I have a heater jacket of some sort? The Jeep came with a tow bar to be towed behind a motor home if that helps.

Standard block heater. Or as we say in New England, Blahk Heatah.

Yup. Standard. All the US CRDs have that block heater. 400 watts. Will not help you heat the cabin, but will help startup on below-freezing mornings.

Those "block heater" posters are yanking your chain about the 400 w heater.

The plug is for the hybrid feature that every CRD comes with. All you need to use it is to plug it in for an overnight charge. I can't believe your dealership didn't tell you about this option!

*snort* that's pretty funny... A dealership telling you something accurately? But use a really long extension cord, and you can get your errands done without using any diesel at all!




FYI: it really is a factory installed block heater, which works pretty well even in the dead of a parked-outside snowy winter. Just use a heavy-duty outdoor timer to have it come on about 2 hours before you want to leave, as the jeep itself does not have any timer on the heater, and you don't want to burn it out.
