So I was able to get my Liberty into the garage today. I had just enough umph in 4wd to get it through a tiny bit of snow and over the lip of the garage floor (gravel driveway). I pulled the transmission pan and expected to find a load of shrapnel.
Nada. Here's what I did find:

Just some metal 'dust', which I hear is normal wear and tear.
To recap real quick, the jeep doesn't really move while in gear. Engine just spins. I barely got it 10 feet today. Happened pretty suddenly. I drove it the day before, then the next day it wouldn't move. Before this though, I did have a shudder at 2700 rpms. It didn't matter what gear I was in.
Here's what I have checked:
* Fluid was full
* Lower filter appeared to be on all the way. I will double check before I do much else.
* Fluid did not smell burnt as far as I could tell.
So what's next? Does this sound like a toasted torque converter?
thx
