I put mine on the passenger side right behind the vacuum module, next to the TCM and in front of the coolant reservoir.

Mine is on the drivers side behind the battery. I made a bracket to mount on the same attaching bolts as the ECM. It drains down to the bottom of the engine where i installed a cap. I drain it at least every oil change. But i do check it at times.

I pulled the idea for mine off of pictures on here, but I guess it wouldn't hurt for me to take some pictures to get some recent shots on here. I will try and get some tomorrow.

Photobucket is one of the good ones too, it's free and the interface is intuitive.

http://www.photobucket.com

It even gives you clickable copy-paste for vbb (code this forum is written in).

Used a large (air conditioning) ziptie and zipped it to the ECU with some foam between the two. Been like this for 6 years 100+k miles with no issues.

Here is mine, no zip ties (but I should) and you can see where some oil seeps out around the connection point, even with RTV. I will clean it up and make a solid mount eventually.

I have mine installed in the same manner. How do you deal with the oil it produces ?
I just completed a 1300 mile trip and had 3+ ounces in my bottle below the air filter,
My plan is to return the drippings to the oil pan by cutting into the dip stick tube (long route)
or preferably into the turbo drain line to the pan ?

Suggestions ??

I would not return anything blown out through the CCVs to the motor considering all the possible things it has picked up. It would almost be like doing and oil change and emptying the old filters oil into the new oil while putting it in.

With the Coalescing oil filter ( Mann Provent ), it is standard industry fair for the oil to be returned to the oil pan. This process has been in place since the early 1980's (my '85 BMW 524td has a factory installed coalescing unit). The CCV on the CRD is wholly inadequate to coalesce and return
oil to the system. "Big Rig" diesel trucks have the same type oil vapor return systems ( Coalescing ) in place.

Oil "blown out" by the CRD's CCV and is every bit as clean as oil in the crank case, and as standard industry fair, should be returned to the crank case. Google "coalescing oil filter" to satisfy your knowledge base.

Right now I drain it. Very quick and clean. It would be nice to return it to the sump but not worth the effort now. I buy the gallon size T6 so even with my larger oil filter I have a little extra to top off the oil between changes. I think my ccv lets an above average amount of oil through though.

I cut up some Scotch Brite discs and filled the empty space inside the CCV to help it catch more oil vapor before going onto the ProVent. What volume of oil are you collecting per miles traveled ?

No there should be no whistle. I would make sure the hoses are on the correct inlet/outlet positions before something gets damaged. The drain hose is installed and sealed, right?

whistle is an air leak

fog/mist - would also be a leak

check to see if you're pinching a hose causing it to leak somewhere else
