...you carry an OBDIII reader to read and reset MILs

...you've been looking for the past 3 years for a cheap Miller Tool set

... you've been told your engine is low on oil by others because of the noise it makes

...you've been yelled at by the gas station attendant warning you not to be diesel into your tank

... you don't shut off your engine when fueling up

... you fuel up with the big rigs at the truck stop

... you have Sir' Sam's phone number in your phone's contact list.

If you made it to 190K miles before finding out it had a timing belt and lived to tell the tale.

You managed to lose the bottom end of two different engines in only 134k miles, while being meticulous about maintenance and protection, fixing the myriad design flaws.

If you know what 'almost right' in design means, you might own CRD.

If you are willing to spend the time fixing that to 'right' you might own a CRD.

If you've ever been stranded far away from home TWICE due to the clutch pulley crapping out on your alternator and are told that the nearest replacement is in the hometown that you're so far away from, you might own a CRD.

(First time it was 65 miles, second time it was 95 miles!)

You had to have it pushed off the highway by a Toyota because it died. More than once. You own a CRD.

If you have 143,000+ miles on your 2005 CRD, have never done anything but change oil and filters, and one timing belt at 99,000 miles.

Absolutely, positively the most trouble free vehicle I have ever had, in almost 40 years of driving.

AND...it is still a Jeep, the finest off road machines ever made, with tremendous resale, and quality/toughness built in.

With the exception of the two (2) alternator failures, I have had a similiar experience with my CRD. Currently sitting at 146K miles. If that's the only knocks, that's pretty trouble-free in my book.

Excellent thread!

You know when you own a CRD when even the wife asks " Any more check engine lites lately ?" every few days.

You might own a CRD if you know the cost of new rockers and where to get them.

Also lets not forget

You might on a CRD if you have talked to Green Diesel Engineering more then twice in one week.
