My CV axel on the passenger side started making a binding noise while turning. I looked underneath and the boot is split.

When I went to NAPAONLINE to look for replacements I found two options on remanned units. They re priced close except one has a much higher core charge.
CV Driveshaft - Right Front - Remfd
Part Number: NMD 958355

CV Driveshaft - Right Front - Remfd
Part Number: NMD 958484

The only difference I could tell is that one has a 1" longer collapsed length. Which one should I go with?

I am running about 4 inch of lift. Am I just pushing these axels too much? This is an 02 KJ with 120k so it was probably time to replace the cv's anyway.

I would call a local NAPA or even the online store and ask and at 4 inches you are pushing them quite a bit. And the NAPAs may bind actually which is how I ended up cutting my first set but they are still your best option quality wise unless you want to pay for the stockers.

Could one be for a crd and the other for the gasser? Don't know, but it might be worth asking the napa folks

I'll have to look in the garage which part number it is but I always use the longer one when giving out the part number to people

Thinking I need to replace the same CV in my 2007 with the 3.5" Muddlift (92K). I see NAPA has remanufactured and new CV's. Besides getting the longer one (thanks Tom), should I go new or reman? Any suggestions on doing anything else while I'm in there? Should I replace both sides at the same time?

Remanned ones from NAPA
Don't have to replace both sides at the same time
some people do but not needed

Thanks again. For 2007 NAPA is only showing 1 left and 1 right hand CV. Guess I don't have to worry about which one to buy. Must be another of those oddball 2007 only things.

Thanks. I know I'm pushing it a bit. Haven't measured in a while but it was about 4" when I checked after replacing the suspension. I put on one hd springs kept my rustys top plate (1/4" I believe) and used a 1/2" Clevis from jba.

It's been about 2 months and 2k mi since then so I need to check where it settled to.

I will look at ordering the longer one.

Should I look at clearancing it before I install or I think there was a fourm member here that sold preclearanced ones? And advice is appreciated.

I am the current member who cuts and clearances them as you would say. And I always install them and with everything back assembled I put the rotor on and try and rotate it. If it binds you will know it right off just make sure you rotate it all the way over atleast once and reattach the sway bar unless you have QDCs or wheel without them.

Are you still making these? What do you charge for a set shipped? Is it possible to return my old ones to the local napa to get the core charge back?

If you were at 4 inches when first installed you'll be down to 3.75 or so now.
I've ran over 64,000 on my current lift at 4.25 inches and the lift before about 40,000 above 4 inches with stock and NAPA CVs never cut them. Left front is still the stock CV with over 184,000 miles on the KJ, 164,000 lifted

Yes and yes PM if you want a set. And yes if you have a local NAPA they will take them in on return.

Was the only thing different on 02 the spring height? When I take my measurement from the center of the wheel to the flare I'm comparing it against stock regardless of the year since the new springs correct?
