Okay - special pricing is back up for now. I will always keep these on special when we can keep up inventory of the imported pieces. Sourcing from the USA is too expensive.

Other good news - I'm working on a relationship with VM Italy so we can get OE rockers at less than half of their current price.

Hi! I am still a noob here, but I did read Sam's noob guide. So please be gracious.

I am ready to order a kit, but it looks as though a Timing Belt Cover Gasket is not included. Is there a reason for that? Is it not recommended to replace the gasket when doing the timing belt? Thanks.

There is no compelling need to replace this gasket, and most folks, me included, don't. It usually is in better shape than the outer cover to which it is attached. If yours is notably deteriorated then I would replace it, or maybe just patch with RTV.

I went to order today and see that the price is back up $579. Is this a permanent price increase? Or will the lower price be back any time soon? Thanks.

Temporary - we are waiting on a container from Italy to arrive. The price should drop $20 or $30 once that arrives. Based on the behavior of customers I've included the timing belt cover gasket and the timing belt tensioner bolt in the kit too so the kit is a better value.

Thanks. I was going to do do that anyway. So this is a better value. I appreciate it.

I called and received this info late last week. Do you have a ETA on the shipment/ price drop?

Please keep us posted on this deal. Got some tax money back and need to do the belt job (108k). Is it complete with everything? Can it be purchaced without the thermostat? I did the inline tstat last year and I'm happy with it so I plan on just sticking my nonworking stock tstat back in to fill the hole when I do the job. I haven't looked yet but do you carry the rocker arm/lifter sets also?
Thanks,
Steve

If you have been waiting, they are now on sale. Place your order while they are still in stock.

Some new upcoming changes to the timing belt kit, including:

Hint: it has a brass impeller.

Thanks to the great business from CRD owners I was able to re-negotiate our supplier contracts, and some other components should be dropping in price soon. So, once again, the TB kit price is set to drop in a week or so.

Way to go Corey, I'm happy for you to have the business!

Thanks geordi.

I've benefitted heavily too since I know have a reliable, cost effective supply for my own CRD too!

When I look at how many timing belt kits we have sold I think that we must be running out of vehicles soon! I laugh at it because one day the number of kits we sell will just hit zero since every CRD on the road already had a belt done.

Well another 45k miles and I will be ready for a second !
I am thinking about the turbo, I see a trend in failures and am considering replacing a still functioning unit. Keith @ GDE recommended to wait until failure, not sure what to do at 145,000 miles.

Will be hiting my second belt job in two to three weeks, and have a question for Cevans. is the water pump the oem VM motori? I would really like to go with the OEM pump.

I believe that is all he offers now, there was a large percentage of failures with the aftermarket Crown unit. I don't think he would be crazy enough to carry those anymore.

This new one with a metal impeller looks fairly interesting however. The replacement I got in my TDI timing kit from him also had a metal impeller... Replacing the plastic one from a prior dealership job (200k) with the previous owner.

Why did I need to do the timing at 67k into this belt's life? The water pump started weeping at around 246k (when I first noticed the water consumption) and was losing about a liter every 1000 miles. It may have already been failed when I bought the car at 244k. I finally had the chance to tear everything down at 267k... No more water leak so far.

Thanks for a great kit and purchase experience Corey!

The one that I got from Greece had the Bronze Impeller, and it was GRAF.

Good stuff all around.

Check the shaft play at every oil change and you can track the wear.

I check it once in a while, it has some play but I am unsure with out feeling a good one of how much it should have! Anyone (that knows good from bad) near SE MI want to feel my turbo shaft? Ha!
