Al's Arms Install Tips

Just wondering if anyone who has installed Al's arms if you have any pointers. Wondering what kind of tools you needed and what kind of issues you might have had with the install. Any help would be appreciated. I am going to get these installed this weekend and would like as few hangups as possible. Thanks guys

Fairly simple install really
If you have the sockets, some extra extensions/ swivels to reach the left side rear nut then you're good to go. Right side is fall off the log simple to do. Some will tell you that you need two people but I've done them by my self with no issues.
Just knock the UBJ loose, unbolt and rebolt back up.
Takes longer to jack the jeep up than it does to swap them out :wink:

Awesome, that's what I figured. When I was reading Al's instructions he talked about pulling all kinds of stuff from the engine bay and I've heard that the left side rear nut was a pain. Thanks Tom

The stuff you have to remove from the engine compartment is simple stuff.
Pay attention to what feature on the flat plate goes forward.
Don't forget to install the thick washer under the ball joint boot.
Put the vehicle on the ground and bounce it a few times before tightening the bushing bolts.

This means on top or below the steering knuckle? I'm guessing top by the way its worded, on the opposite side of the castle nut.

Also when you say "pay attention to what feature on the flat plate goes forward" how do I know which side is correct? Pardon me being so naive. I should probably look at the original setup first (I installed my lift in November so it's been a while since I've been in there) but I figure it's best to find out answers first before I get to a point during the install and have to wait for answers.

Yeah, it goes on top, under the grease boot. My guess is that it pushes the boot up tight to seal the lower lip. It comes with a big 'ol ball joint suitable for a dump truck.

The bent end of the ball joint mounting plate goes forward. Take a good look at them because at first glance they look symmetrical.

Well I finished... That sucked! Between the little episode of rain, not having a one inch wrench, and shearing one of my lug nuts in half, that took much longer than I would have liked. Alignment tomorrow.

Time for a beer. Or eight. Homemade IPA :BINGO:
