I have an 05 with ORM. I tried the "key dance" but it didn't work. SO you just turn the key to ON (but not start) 3 times and it's supposed to show codes?

Yes, ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON within 5 seconds.

I find I need to turn ON/OFF rapidly 4 times, leaving it ON after the 4th time.

Odometer should then display the stored codes from oldest to newest...does not erase the codes and shows the code only once even if there were multiple occurences of one particular code.

If you do get the codes, bear in mind that using this method you sometimes get the last two digits transposed so a code of P0152 for example may actually show as P0125

No offense to you Ando, but if I lived where you live, I would make the drive over to the VM Diesel Specialist in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.

Those guys specialize in these engines, and a lot of us across the pond would be tickled pink just to be able to visit that place, as they supplied a LOT of parts for us yanks until IDParts started carrying a lot of OEM VM stuff.

Just a suggestion, gauranteed they can fix/analyze/solve your problems. This is the ONLY brand of engines they specialize in.

VM Diesel Specialist
Chesterfield, Derbyshire S41 9AR

No offence taken bud  ... though the place I've booked it in at supposed to be crud hot with any diesel, and they are like 20mins from my door .. so I'll see what happens, but nice to know the VM base isnt far  .. so cheers for the heads up

I'll report back once they've taken a look :D
