I'm looking for someone near me to do my timing belt and rocker arm swap for me. I have all parts needed but I haven't gotten a good feeling from any local mechanics I've talked to lately. I can usuall detect if they know what they are doing when I talk to them and I want someone that at least knows what these beasts are. I can bring to you and leave it if not too far and come back and pick it up when ever job is done. I'm close to just doing it myself with the help of the write up and video but I just can't find the time. It would take me a month of evenings to complete it. Let me know if someone in the east tn, western nc, or sw va would be interested in doing this for me.
Thanks,
Steve

I'd be willing to help you if you can bring it to me. I have Sunday/Monday off so it would have to be on those days if you could bring it over on a Saturday or something we could start that evening.

I'd have to talk to my wife, of course, but I have all the tools already.

Nominal fee.

You'd definitely want to make sure you had everything ready, I can make a list for you.

PM me for a Phone # if you're interested. I could maybe bring tools to you, and assist, provided it was the aforementioned days.

Benefit being, I've actually done all this myself before!

You are exactly what I am looking for....If you were just a little closer. Nashville is 5 to 6 hours from me. I am happy to pay but that is a bit far for me to bring, drop off and go back and pick up. In the 12 hours in drop off and pick up process I could have alot of the job completed haha. Thanks alot for the offer.

Farthest part of eastern TN I see from where I live in Smyrna, TN is about 4.5 hours, but I could understand the trailering aspect of increased travel time if it's currently down.

I would entertain coming over and helping do it at your place, and bringing the pins and VM.1085.

Unless you just prefer a mechanic shop, don't have time to do it personally, or whatever. Geordi also roams up and down I-95 and does it, you might try him if he hasn't sold his tools already.

I understand whatever you decide, just telling you there's folks willing to help you.

Best of luck regardless!

Mac that sounds good. I know the last time I went to Nashville it took me about 5 hours so that sounds about right. I'm about as far east in Tn as you can get right on the NC line and a stones throw up to Bristol Va. I don't prefer a mechanic's shop. I'm very used to working in my driveway. If you are willing to come to me I'd be glad to pay fuel and expences also. If we get this job done with some daylight left I've got some good 4wheelin' trails I'll show you... Let me know when you can do it.

Hey im in chattanooga, tn. Jeepsters in soddy daisy, tn is about 10 min. from me. They service all of the CRDs in the area and the head machanic is the only one in the area certified for sprinter and benz vans. Phone # 423 332-2632. Or southeast diesel in rossville, ga is supposed to be real good. Id say you'd hafta go to them though. Good luck.

I have Chattanooga in my responsibilities as well with work, PM me your # and we'll get together for lunch or something the next time I'm down, compare CRD's.

Heh!

Yup, I'm on the I-95 corridor a fair bit, and just because I have sold the VM1085 and pins... That's OK, I have the full set of VW tools too. The VW tools can easily do the job when you know what you are doing, so I'm not out of the game either. That far west in NC is a good bit more than 5 hours from me however, so sounds like you would be better served by Mac.

I think I have most of the South East covered, Mac gets the Mid-Atlantic region and RacerTracer and his local buddies get the NE, I think we have most of the country covered East of the Mississippi river. :)
