I purchased my brand new Jeep Liberty Limited with ALL THE OPTIONS!!!
I am so excited, I ordered it, and it is supposed to be here in 6 weeks
they said. I should have one of the last Liberty's to come off the
assembly line!! Dunno if that is a good or a bad thing, but we will see!!

---------------------------> Ok here is the thing <-----------------------------
First, does anyone have the remote start for the diesel, and if you do,
how does it work? Does it let the glow plugs warm up before it starts it,
or does it cold start it?

Second, does anyone know how and if I will be able to make a diesel
exhaust come up vertical, like a Semi truck, with a little bobber on top of
the pipe!!! Ive always thought that was kewl, but never had a diesel to
do it on. NOW I DO!! Is this even an option, or should I consider just
doing a regular exhaust out the back thing?

Thanks!!

The remote start waits 5-10 seconds before starting.

As far as the exhaust stack, I just can't picture one on a Liberty. There's no place like a pickup bed for it to exit. I did a side exit on mine. I think that's about as radical as you could reasonably get.

Congratulations on the new Liberty!

Last off the line is a GOOD, GOOD thing! All the latest updates to the computer software, and all the latest parts (if any were redesigned)!

Lucky, lucky CRD owner you will be! I'm feeling a little jealous even though I only have 10k miles on mine at almost a year since date of manufacture. What color did you order?

As for the remote start, I've heard the dealership can reprogram it. I know there will have to be a minimum delay due to the glow plugs, maybe 2-3 seconds at the least...

Exhaust... I'm still on the sidelines thinking about that one...

I bought the 'Mopar' Remote start. DO NOT BUY IT! Get an after market one! Mine waits 30 seconds to start! I could change it to start immediately, but haven't. Also, after researching remote starts for the g/f's Celica, quite a few of them have turbo timers built in, the Mopar ones do NOT!

I had a similar question about the remote start delay. The mopar remote starter 'should' be configured to use the 2 second delay. With the rapid glows that is all you need and the install instructions (if the tech bothers to read them) states to use the default 2 second setting when installing into a Liberty. You may want to check the "Remote Starter" thread as this and several other remote start questions are discussed and may be of interest.

I like the mopar remote start but dislike the fact that it uses a seperate key fob. It would be nice to be able to use just the factory key fob.

Exactly! I asked that specific questions and was told it would be integrated into the already huge key, the to find out it wasn't....

Here's a sound clip of my remote start. You can see how long the delay is...about 4-5 seconds.
