My question is this, has ANYONE had the converter replaced and still have the issues they had before. Conclusively I
am trying to discover is we have even seen a fix either with a flash or converter replacement. We have one confirmed
fix with the TransGo kit in Sweden, and we have another one being installed in Georgia and hopefully mine this weekend.
I realize it is not the dealer fix, but I am looking for any solution that fixes it for good, so far I have not seen that post,
and maybe there are multiple issues that cause it, so the story goes on.
I experienced a mild shudder this morning will driving with the O/D off at about 1800 to 1900 rpm, I think I was doing about 45 mph. I wasn't at my best due to it being about 0130 in the morning and having to pick up sick daughter at work. This is the first time I have ever had this happen, I heve tried to get it to happen before, but with the O/D on instead of off as this morning. Now I am starting to wonder about the choice of trannys. I have wondered if in Europe they used the MB 5-speed W5A580 automatic transmission in the Cherokee with this engine, this trans is also used in the Sprinter Van, MB I6 E-class CDI diesel here and in Europe and the LX platform cars from 3.5L V6, 5.7L V8 Hemi and the 6.1L SRT8 Hemi with about 450 lbs of torque. The W5A580 was designed to handle 600+ lbs of torque and would have been the ideal choice I would think, I'm guessing they might have used the 545R due to availability problems.
What does the TransGo kit consist of and how difficult is the install? Would most of us require a trans tech to install this kit?
