With 5 years of trouble-free performance with the "euro" and the price being back in the $220 range, why experiment? I doubt there are any likely gains and loads of potential downside. If you are not happy at some point, is your local guy going to cover the $1000 that most places charge to R&R?
When the euro was over $500, suncoast was a consideration, but it is hard ro justify a $500 premium at this point. Have over 50K miles heavy towing experience with euro so far. GDE has much more.

Please show me where your finding the euro converter for $220. I have only been able to find them for $350-450+core.
If I'm not happy with converter I can just drop the tranny. I don't pay people to work on my cars. I can do every thing my self.
As for price for the local company. He said it should not be more then what he charges the cummins guys. Said on average its around $350. When he asked me what the issue was, I told him about the shutter and how the new oem converter has bigger springs in it. He said that sound like part of the problem and some of it could be oiling issues to the clutch. Said he could most likely get the upgraded parts and then do some of the oiling mods he does for the cummins converters.
Of all the placed I talked to about building me a converter, this guy asked the most questions and gave me more information on what he could do. Every other shop just said, they could build me a oem converter. The other nice thing was that he said he could have it done day I drop it off and we take a look at it.
So at $350 with no core charge and for shipping it seems to be a good price. I'm taking my converter in monday. So I will keep this updated to let you if I go this route.
