Hi all from northern Indiana, new to the forum but not to jeeps. Looking to buy #7. Currently have a 2011 Patriot which I’m giving to my daughter to get her through college. We’re looking at 2010 Libertys to use as a family truckster, haven’t owned a Liberty yet but it reminds me of a shortened version of a Commander which I loved.
Anybody know of anything I need to watch out for in buying one or any reason I should look else where?

I have an '08 Sport and I love it. The suspension was supposedly tuned and the steering box reinforced in '09. Then for the '11 model year the interior got a slight refresh. Basically it has been the same vehicle since it came out in '08 though. The Renegade trim has blacked out headlights and gray fenders. The Jet trim is an urban creature with 20 inch rims and blacked out headlights. The Arctic is a cool trim line also. The Limited has all the bells and whistles, as well as some extra chrome. I am happy with my no-nonsense trail rated Sport.

I would look for the tow package and the equipment package with the fog lights, compass & temp on the dashboard, and roof rack side rails. I would stay away from a sunroof (leaks) or sky slider (highway noise and leaks), but that is my preference and others will tell you they love the sky slider. Then check out LOST for all sorts of ideas on how to mod your Jeep for extra capability and coolness.

Thanks for the info lfhoward, This one is going to remain stock, unless i figure out how to lift the front enough to level it with the rear. No off roading for this we'll leave that to the wrangler I haven't got yet, this one will be religated to mostly lite towing and snow duty.

Pretty excited to take the Jeep on a short road trip (200 miles highway) for the first time with the lift. So far it has been a satisfying ride. :5SHOTS:

Coming from and 4x2 to a 4x4 KK is huge jump.. I have found out a few things about my KK.. Such as the type of 4wd system that I have. Its the Command-Trak and whens best to use it.

I know the 4x4 Patriots had it where the 4wd system could tell when 4wd was needed. Does the KK do this? Like switching into 4x4 when the conditions need it even if the driver didn't turn it on?

Not looking forward to changing the spark plugs on my 09 as it doesn't look as straight forward as the Patriots.

Otherwise I love this vehicle.

Spark plugs are way too easy on the KK.

As for Command-Trac, I don't believe there is anything you can do about the engagement of 4x4 besides actually putting it in 4x4 mode with the selector.

Easy peasy, nuttin to it. Remove the coil pack and the plug is right there.

Ted where can I see pictures of your KK? Mine is the same color and id like to see what you've done.

I saw the plugs on the driver side just didn't see them to easily on the passenger side.

They're under the coil packs.

I don't have a place to see them other than photobucket but I could post a few.

When I bought the tires, they were on a set of soft eights. I loved the set up but they were 8" wide with 5" or 5 1/2" backspace. Way too much and they rubbed at full lock backing up. It was a pretty easy fix but I decided to use the stock time instead and sold the cragers.

That comes in handy. Don't forget the passenger seat does, too.

Ted has one of the coolest KK's I've seen. The winch is on a Detoures Backbone, and the spare and jerry can are on a Detoures Knucklebone tire carrier.
Both products can be found here: http://www.detoursusa.com
DirtyKK's Backbone install thread is here: viewtopic.php?f=104&t=52771

It's a Detoures Backbone winch mount with a smittybilt xrc10 comp winch mounted. The hawse fairhead has a smittybilt light mount with two rigid industries led lights. It isn't a bumper but with a little effort could be.
Here are a couple shots of it before installation.

Don't know if any of you guys are watch guys or Bimmer & Gulf fans, but my buddy's company sells these NATO straps. They're limited quantities done with a custom dye to match perfect. Anyway, the site is Natostrapco.com.

Cool idea but it'd be nice if he included a section where the consumer could buy a watch face with it. I'm not sure how many places sell watches with no band.
