Thinking of buying a TJ bumper and putting it on my liberty. Would one of the other Jeeps model be better to start with.

The only thing that Really stands in our way is the fact that the Wranglers are on Frames and their bumpers attach directly to frame where our unibody is much different in construction.

Sure we attach to the "frame" persay but I think without a good bit of modification the bumpers just won't line up.
I'm not sure aside from that fact if there are other reasons eg: width of the jeep etc

Any info that's found from all this will be useful for all so I hope it gets a lot of reply's :pepper:

It's been done before, but like the above mentioned, your in for some minor headaches and the looks just won't end up looking quite right. Do a quick google search on it, especially images. That'll give you a quick feel  Now don't get me wrong, some of them end up looking okay, and if you had one laying around, give it a whirl! But I wouldn't pop money for a new one to try to make it work. Just my two cents.

I've been looking at rock lizards bumpers. But it looks like you have do so rigging to get it to work as well. I been machining for years and to make an adopter to fit a bumper . But the rocks 850.00 before ship. the other arb for 1200.00 is before ship. does any one know of a steel bumper for less. Thanks for the help.

You're paying for quality and craftmanship with RL's or an ARB. Yes they're expensive but that's what they have to be sold for in order for the builder to stay out of the red.

The reason you see a lot of cheap wrangler, XJ etc bumpers esp from ebay and e auto grilles is because they're made in vast quantity with chinese steel and chinese welds.

Not sure what you mean about RLs bumper needing some rigging??????????????
Remove the old stock plastic bumper and bolt his on. Man have to drill a couple of holes but that is all. For example the ARB you have to drill 6 extra holes to bolt it up
Not a big deal

I may not have a RL front bumper but I do have a custom RL rear and I can tell you first hand that their products are top notch. Money well spent in my opinion. You always have the option of building your own, I have a custom front that a buddy and I built.

Well thanks for all the help. Looks like the only two bumpers too buy for the liberty is the Rock or ARB . Hoping for a few more choices.

Also build your own or do like I am now, had the ARB but had some free time and wanted to change things around so taking the Matrix brush guard from JBA and making it into a bumper. Its made to go over the stock bumper, but I've shortened the mounts moving it closer to the body, adding some lower bars/ making it more of a Baja style bumper, light weight yet with good tow points etc

Another option is draw up roughly what you want and take it to a good welding shop. They should be able to fab you something. That's what I did for the stubby bumper and stinger I have. I haven't had any trouble with it. Plus I didn't drop anywhere near $1,000 on it like some of the other bumpers out there.

To the OP
could also always buy one of Rock Lizards old style center sections and just run it or add to it. They have them for sale in the vendors section.
You know they would mount right up and like I said run it or customize it any way you want

When Marty first came up with the Modular design I was discussing with him how it would work to integrate with the stock plastic bumper similar to what this xterra has in the rear:

I was going that route but sprung for the ARB instead due to a timing issue

Draw up what you want and go to your local welding shop. You would be surprised what they could do. That's what I did for mine instead of buying "another bolt on". It's strong enough to pull with and cutting out the middle man I paid like 3x less for it.
