So keeping this thread going...

Is Digger still around? I don't believe i've seen him post in a while.

Some info about me.. I'm LKWJeeper on JF

I'm 26 and married with a 9 month old girl. I work for a bank, and I drive about 40 miles a day just commuting to work. I've lived in South Carolina my entire life, and spent a few years in Myrtle Beach, SC.

I'm on my 2nd Jeep. I had a 2010 Jeep Patriot Latitude 4x2. It was a great Jeep just had a few annoying things that I didn't like. I didn't like the sound of the CVT transmission. It was loud and there was a delay from hiting the accelerator and the vehicle moving. Even with the larger 2.4L I4 it was still a very underpowered vehicle. I dreaded pulling out into traffic. The Patriot only holds 13 gallons of fuel, so with my commute i was having to fill up weekly I do miss the MPGs though. The Patriot did start me into modding, and I added the RRO lift as well as a few other items to the Jeep.

I had been looking at the Liberty for a while and test drove a couple. I had found one with low mileage not to far away from my house. I went and checked it out and the first warning sign was there was 3 previous owners. The vehicle only had 33k miles. The other was the terrible amount of rust under the vehicle. I ended up running out of there as fast as I could. I was on a family vacation to Pittsburgh and was killing time before meeting family when I went to look at Jeeps.
Long story short, I was there 2 hours and ended up leaving with a 2009 Liberty with only 14.5k miles.

Wow, the Patriot has a small tank! You don't mind the slow-poke Liberty?
Mine is no hot rod, but I'd sure like to race a stock one. :goink:

Yeah the Patriot with the CVT has a slight delay when you hit the gas pedal. It also just feels bogged down. It will charge up any hill or mountain with no problem.

The Liberty has some balls compared to the Patriot.

To add to the randomness...
I'm guessing it's the fact that I run wheel spacers, but I still find it hard to park straight with the KK. I've gotten pretty good at it, but if I'm not focused, I'll be extremely diagonal.
Always reverse park it.

My reverse parking, which I do 99% of the times is far better than a regular pull in park job. :ROTFL:

100% ! Small step in my hypermiling routine.
Whenever my girlfriend is sitting shotgun and I park in reverse she's like "of course you're backing it in."
I bet in two years I have parked "regular" less than 10 times.

On another note, I'm on vacation this week!
Going skiing with my buddy on Tuesday, so of course we're taking the Jeep.

I've been backing in to parking spots most of my driving history. No back up cameras then. Drove full size pick-ups with toppers. Blind spots big enough to hide a football team.
I do it for safety, still no back up camera !

Safety is definitely a big part of why I do it, too. :BINGO:
I don't have a camera, either. I'm sure they're nice to have.

It amazes me that people put back up cameras on tiny vehicles.. I guess its rediculous to expect people to use their mirrors or look behind them before putting it in reverse

I reverse park simply so I have quick escape when the zombies come. You never know when it'll happen. Always be prepared!
Speaking of which, anyone watch The Walking Dead?

Amen. Saves time. Always gotta be one guy in the parking lot driving way too fast that might run into ya.

I would like one but i need a sky slider to actually operate it. Unless I pay $100K or so for a CROWS system and just have my passenger control it remotely. Maybe I can get Atthehelm to fabricate me a flail attachment to my front bumper like they use on mine clearing vehicles. Image
Image
I imagine that would clear my way through any zombie horde  .
So why do they continue to drive cars like the Walking Dead. I've counted at least 2 or 3 times when they've gotten stuck because of low clearance and 2wd. If they only had a jeep, or truck or anything other than a compact car for that matter, many a Walking Dead cast would still be alive. I know at least I won't have that problem when the zombie apocalypse happens :JEEPIN: .

I just brought this thread to a new level of random :pepper:

Well, I got my best Winter mpg so far. 18.9 mpg. :frankie:
That tank 100 miles were highway and the rest were city.
