Well, I finally convinced the wife that her 2010 Journey SXT was getting too long in the tooth. I have never liked it from the start, but she loved it.
Went to my favorite dealership and left with a 2014, Billet Silver Cherokee Latitude. It does have all the cool bells and whistles, pretty good gas mileage, and the interior is much improved. The seats are very comfortable and there seems to be plenty of room, even for my 6'4" carcass. It drives more like a car, which is good for her, and has plenty of storage.

I didn't like the way the front grill/lights area or the rear looked when I first saw pictures of them. Now that I see it in person, it's not too bad. The rear, well I'm still scratching my head over that.

I'm still not so sure about the "9-speed" transmission. You would think it would be smooth as silk, but I'm not seeing it...yet.

Sadly, I compare it more to her Compass LTD she had 6 years ago. I suppose anything less than the Trailhawk (they had one in the showroom....sweet!) can't really be considered a real Jeep.

All in all, it's the perfect "car" for her. I will stick with my KK however, and I guess I'll have to consider other options when it comes time to trade.

Why would you not replace your KK with maybe the Trail hawk ?
I'm not in the market but, our choices of 4x4's that really Work and are not pick-ups is getting smaller.

Still got a lot of good miles left on the KK, so it's not time for her yet. PLUS, the Trailhawk sticker was around $37K if I remember right
Way out of my price range at the moment.

I'll most likely go with a Wrangler when I'm ready. Who knows?

It's just the FWD. She has no need (hopefully) to go anywhere where she would need 4WD
I'll check out the Cherokee Club....thanks.

I got mine with FWD also. I'm retired from crawling over stuff.
With the bad weather here recently I had no trouble getting around even on the stock all season tires. I just put on tires for the winter because I take trips north where snow is more frequent and heavier.

FWD vehicles are good in the snow anyway.

I was at the dealership yesterday picking up my KK and was drooling over the Dodge Viper SRT they had on the dealer showroom.. I happened to stop and check out the Trailhawk also, at 34k i'd be driving a Wrangler or GC but its still not a bad looking vehicle.

Congrats with your new purchase. I think the 9 speed tranny would be great in any highway runs but may be sluggish when it comes to city driving.

It does run great on the highway, but she's still quite peppy around town too. The tranny seems to move through the lower gears quickly, it's hard to tell since it's so smooth. But the Jeep is quick off the line when you want it to  and has no problem downshifting smoothly too.
All in all, I'm very happy with the way it runs in all situations.

I just purchased a 2014 Cherokee as well. Is your first gear "jumpy"? It seems when going from a stop, the gear seems jumpy.

I traded my 09 kk for a 14 kl sport. I have the 2.4 tiger shark and the 9 speed transmission , it wasn't shifting well when coasting to a stop. It has been to the dealership for that and got the updated software. The other day I was heading out to vote, pedal not on the gas coasting up to a stop sign, when I hear a muted clunk from the tranny. Lights pop on dash evic says "service transmission". Yikes, call service at the dealership and recommend a tow. The kl is at the dealership now awaiting a new transmission. Other than that I've had 4,750 trouble free miles:?

The jeep is back from the dealer, on Tuesday. Have not taken it for a drive because I was out of state.

How's your Jeep been since getting it back?
