Wow memories.. My first 4x4 was a lifted, primer red '76 Chevy Blazer, with a stroker 383 and a full size 38" spare on the roof rack :) I cant remember how many times I ripped the mirrors of that beast taking it down trails on the dunes following quads. Sadly I sold it 15 years ago and am only now getting anther 4x4. A liberty CRD on Saturday :)

Mine was a 1948 CJ2A, with an L-head engine instead of the F-head. Everything else was stock. Ran 7.50X16 Firestone Super AllTracs on split rims with tubes.

My 2011 KK is my first 4x4 and I'm pleased with it. It's not ideally what I wanted, coming from a family that always had full size trucks(uncle always had a 3/4-1ton pickups, and my dad always had full size Broncos and similar pickups for work trucks), but for a 20 year old commuting 70 miles a day to school, buying an old Bronco or pickup wasn't going to happen.

After deciding an old truck wasn't going to happen and that I needed to buy new I wanted a 4 door JK, but got a sweet deal on a 4x4 KK with a skyslider. Now I plan on lifting it within the next few weeks and keeping it for a long time. Slowly I'll start to be able to buy the cars and trucks I want, but I still need a dependable daily driver til then.

Mine was an 86 (i believe) S10 Blazer Tahoe edition with Edelbrock intake and Edlebrock tb. 3" lift. not sure on the trans mods if any but that thing would fly. 2 days after i got it i ran it off the road but didnt know the ditch was as deep as it was a tractor had to pull me out :banghead: it looked shallow but it was 12' deep lol. drove it forever.

Back in '77 I bought a rusted out '61 Willy's wagon given up for dead. Popped a DieHard batt in and it started. Thrashed that main-knocking flathead Hurricane 6cyl all summer long. I was bit by the offroad bug and decided then that Jeep would be spoken and understood in my family.

Our first 4X4 was a 2000 XJ. After that, it was a 2003 KJ Renegade. We had lots of fun in that, road trips and wheeling.

Image

We then traded the KJ for a JK, which was a workhorse when we had our new house built, hauling furniture, appliances, household items and much more.

Image

Now we are older with aches and pains, so we ride in comfort in the KL, be it only FWD.

Mine was an '86 2 door. Crap for motor (thanks, GM), but I loved that thing.

1. Land Rover Discovery Td5
2. Land Rover Defender Td5
3. Land Rover Freelander Td4 (very under-rated just crying out for a low 'box; it gets expensive when you fry the clutch & DMF trying to play with the big boys)

Decided a change was in order, not many Cherokee KK's over here so wanted to be different & see how they're like to live with as a daily driver.

I had an 88 4cyl 5sp. Fun packing all my friends in it in high school. I didn't have any engine issues but did burn out the transmission. Was a great truck.

Mine was a 5spd too. Could put a double bed inside the thing. The '86 still had the single back seat that folded on itself, then the entire thing rotated to the front, holding there with a metal clip.

The '86 4-banger was a one-yr GM experiment that failed. They ate exhaust valves like they were an afternoon snack...third time mine ate them, I had to let it go (I paid for repair 1, the shop paid for repair 2). Mechanic said the valves looked like they'd been sandblasted.

Drove that thing all over MDs Eastern Shore and DE in the 'blizzard' of '96. Best friend's boyfriend's Cherokee 4x4 couldn't get out of its parking spot in front of my Trooper without help. We had 24" to play in and my Trooper went everywhere, with almost bald tires, without trouble.

1974 Chevrolet K5 Blazer. Looked a lot like this one. Rustbucket but one tough truck. You could put huge tires on it w/o a lift.

MY first was my '98 ZJ SE. I loved that thing until I wrecked it. It definitely had some quirks. Any time the gas tank got anywhere below full, the gauge would drop to empty and the gas light would come on whenever it felt like it. Sometimes the needle would pop back up to where it was (presumably) supposed to be. Also, when you put it in reverse, it felt like it was trying to lunge backwards.

1997 Geo Tracker. Had it's quirks, but bought it new and didn't have a car payment for the next 16 years. I went to a church with two services and ~1,000 members. We had a blizzard about five years ago and I was one of 12 people to make it to the early service. 5 of the other 11 were related to the preacher. :D
