Check the flag bolt on the clevis fork. When I did my lift one of the flags was hitting the lower A-arm. Mine was a squeaking sound, but it could be your click. I just bent it out a little, no more noise.

I looked at mine and it is a straight nut and bolt, no washer or anything so this isn't the problem

I went to Les Schwab and the said they were able to make the sound happen but everything seemed tight to them so they told be that it must be an internal problem and their best guess is that it might be coming from the rack and pinion. Any have any thoughts in agreeing or disagreeing?

Disconnect the tie rod ends and tell them to try again. I guess they are bumping it, aren't they?

I assume everything was tightened after full weight was on the ground, seems like a common mistake with a lot and they end up with various noises. Noises can also travel through the unibody and what sounds like left front maybe right rear when found

So I'm 99% sure I figured out were the noise is coming from
Image

Just throwing this question out there but if it has to be replaced do you guys think it will be under warranty?
Also I am 99% sure that the noise is coming from the driver side front because I will run over road flashers with that tire then it makes the noise

This is VERY interesting. I got my stock 2011 Limited 70th Anniversary KK at the end of 2012 and noticed this clicking sound (in reverse after turning the wheel approx 45 degrees or more) in the spring of 2012. It seems that the clicking is worse when it's hot outside. It's odd, the only time I don't hear it at all is when is 40 degrees or less and wet.

I've tried to trouble shoot it as has a mechanic and neither could find the problem. Trying to avoid taking it to the dealer. I realize that it looks as though y'all are dealing with a mod lift but just thought I'd chime in as someone who seems to be experiencing the same issue wo the lift. I'll try to record the sound tomorrow and post

Interesting thread I've got the same issue, econo lift, rapid clicking exactly as you described only under hard left uphill turns under load, i did the lift myself and i know that everything was torqued on the ground i haven't been able to figure it out either hopefully one of us figures it out, hasn't caused any problems for me bit it is an annoyance because i can't figure it out, i don't think it's the traction control, if you turn it off the nose still occurs

I was just out in the woods with mine today, and had rapid clicking from drivers side. Seemed to only happen in 4x4 uphill or deep sand. When I come out of 4x4 is seems to go away. Basically seemed to be in 4x4 under load. Would this be indicative of CV's. I did not try turning off esp. Maybe I should try turning it off and see what happens.

Sounds like your CV in this case

Sure its not the ESP kicking in on a turn?

Another thing which no one thinks about is the fact you have maybe 50-75,000 miles on your Liberty before you lifted. NOW you have changed the angles on everything from tie rods, CV, sway bar, rear ujoints, etc. Everything is now running at different angles so some noises may occur until settled in or worn parts replaced

I think I may have just found my issue, rear boot on front drives haft is tore up.....missing in action. I can grab drives shaft by hand and virtually duplicate sound which I would imagine would seem worse under load. Is this drives haft joint rebuildab.e or do I need to replace entire shaft.Image

Easy to rebuild it several places are now selling them in the 45-50 dollar range. Normal wear item since crap gets thrown back in there and no one thinks to wash it out good every so often
Takes longer to remove the driveshaft than it takes to replace the CV head

I wouldn't think that it could be the esp kicking on because if you turn it off you can still get the noise to occur but that is exactly what the noise sounds like, I lifted mine at just over 29,000 miles so i wouldn't think I'd get noises doing it that early but I don't have all that much experience

Rebuild it will be. Just have to find good price on parts. I will do both front and rear joints while it is out. New shaft is 400+ bucks. Rebuilding looks to be fairly easy. The front driveshaft is offset the drivers side which would explain why noise seems to come from drivers side.

Should be a $45 fix.

I wouldn't worry about the diff side CV. The transfer case CV is almost always the one that needs replacing on KJs and now KKs.

JUST replace the rear CV on the front driveshaft, front CVs last a long time. My front is original with 214,000 miles , rear has been replaced at about 75,000 and 194,000

NOTE TO ALL KK OWNERs
it would be good to check yours due to them lasting about 70,000 on the average , start checking them at 55-60,000

Ok, the front seems to be in good shape like you said. Boot looks good and no slop. Rear boot is torn and lots of free play. Bought this with about 55000, now has 114000 I am quite sure in my case at least that this clicking has absolutely nothing to do recent lift upgrade. I was just listening more carefully today.
