I ordered a Pioneer Appradio which will be arriving today. This weekend the install will begin but I'm not so excited about the included microphone with aftermarket stereos. I'd like to modify the Jeep factory microphone. I am assuming what is included in the picture below is the factory mic, no? My factory stereo did not come with uConnect installed so maybe I'm making the wrong assumption. In my Googling I've found that most factory mics are in the mirror.

If my assumption is correct, I'd like to splice the factory mic wire onto a 3.5mm jack then plug it directly into the Pioneer Appradio. Thoughts?

EDIT: I should also point out that I'm having an extremely difficult time locating a wiring diagram for an '08 KK. Why is this so hard to find?

The more I look at that black circle near my dome lights...the more I think it's not a mic. Any idea what it is? I tried Googling but no luck so far. I haven't found another photo of someone's interior that has one like it

Well I just added a pioneer stereo and added the Mic that came with it. The Mic is a PITA but I put I at the top left corner of the air vent. The dash is holding it on. I was going to clip it to the sun visor but routing the wire would've been annoying.

I have a feeling I'm going to have to use the mic that came with my Pioneer radio. It's so clunky though so now I need to find a way to mount it flush behind the trim. I'm sure it'll require some hefty fabrication but I'll keep this thread updated

forgive my stubborness but what is the point of a mic? I have not heard of this before so I'm confused.

I am adding in a new stereo and it had handsfree calling using bluetooth to my cell phone. The mic will allow me to keep my cell tucked away in the center console and I can talk openly and hear sound thru the car speakers

This just in.....apparently that little black dot is an interior temperature sensor :ROTFL:

I guess I will be fabricating my own mount. This thread talks about how to remove the overhead console so I'll start there
