This is a great solution for those who want simple and strong front recovery points. They are individual shackle tabs (sold as a set) that bolt to the factory tow hook mounting locations and accept a standard 3/4" shackle with a 7/8" pin. The mounts are built from cnc cut and bent 1/4" plate and the shackle tabs are laser cut and media tumbled 3/4" thick stock. They bolt up using included grade 8 bolts and 1/4" thick backing plates that sandwich the unibody.

The problem with the factory tow hooks is they use either a dangerous 'm bolt' which is known to rip out of the unibody or a thin 'stud plate'. The stud plate is actually sold as a separate hardware kit, forcing you to buy both if you want any reliability.
Everything you need for installation is included with these shackle mounts.

They tuck up nice and tight to the plastic bumper so maximum approach angle is maintained. Using shackles offers more versatility and safety over hooks, plus they just look good!
They ship bare steel, ready for the coating if your choice. Shackles are not included.

Price is $100 plus shipping. These are small enough to fit in a usps priority mail flat rate box, which is $12 within the United States.

100% Handmade in the USA!

I assume you still need to remove the bumper to install these, right? I have a set of the tow hooks that I have yet to get around to installing because of that reason. They came with the m bolts but like you said I'd prefer not to use them. Just can't seem to find the time to remove the bumper. These look really nice by the way.

The bumper is surprisingly easy. I started around 4 and finished around 8. I did it by myself and ate dinner and ran to autozone in between

It would be ok strength wise, but no I wouldn't use them as a jacking point by inserting the hi-lift though a shackle. It wouldn't be very stable amd the bumper would interfere.

It should be fine if you do it right and have that platform for the jack

I have 1 of those. They work. I also have a rugged ridge one that came with my receiver mount.

Those would work.
The hole is cut for a 3/4" shackle with a 7/8" pin.

Could you put these on the rear mount points as well? I never got a rear hitch so the points are still open.

They are only for the front. The rear bolt holes are quite a bit different.

Updated pics to show what you get and how they're built.

Any idea if these are compatible with the KJ tow-hook mounts and bumper notch clearances (either 02-04 or 05-07 styles)? I've been "getting 'round to" making a recovery frame that mounts the same way for a while (years) now but might like to have something well made that works in the interim.

I've looked hard at pics of the 02-04 and 05-07 bumper openings, I'm 90% sure they will fit with the shackles without trimming any plastic. They will definitely bolt up to the unibody the same though. I'll shoot you a pm here in a sec, maybe we can work something out...
